i have a pair of alpine type r 6x9s and they dont sound as good as they should in my oppinion, i really cant crank them cuz the bass distorts the whole speaker, i have a 300w amp powering them, before when i was between sub projects i would have the amp on full with the bass all at 0 on my HU and i would be lucky to reach 20 (volume) on my alpine HU, i dun get it, shouldnt these type-r's sound better then this?, there even in boxes!?

6x9's are usually made to be put into rear decks or free air designs. By putting them into those tiny "looks tiny from the pic" enclosures is probably holding them back. Are you trying to run the lowpass or somthing..??

lol no i have no reason 2 run them lowpass... i ran them at regular, i put them in boxes because when i did have them in the rear deck they sucked just as bad? mayb that was cuz they were brand new and i needed to break them in or something, or because i didnt have them hooked up to an amp.. when i started haveing them hooked up to an amp was when i threw them in the enclosures... so u think amps help high power 6x9s, mayb i should put them back in the rear decks and have them hooked up to an amp they will sound better??

well yeah they sound pretty sick on high but i dunno y they werent sounding good on full, when i say full i ment the crossover on the amp, lp,full,hp, and no i dont have the gain all the way up id say 3/4.. sence i got a sub i deff threw these babys on high.. but it just stumps me that they sound liek $hit when i crank then on with any kind of bass to them..liek they only sound good on HP...

Which is why I asked what amp he is running //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif If it is like his sub "no and I mean no offence" then he is probably clipping it.

alright wtf im gunna take the 6x9s outta the boxes and throw them in the rear where they belong... then when i have ppl in my back i will atleast be able 2 hear some clear music then my stock 6x9s i still have sittin in there... i did this whole project in the winter so i been pretty lazy 2 change it up cuz its to **** cold i hate goin out and workin on my system in this 20degree weather

and what the hell while im at it ill take the amp out that i was using to power the 6x9s and smash it, im sure it will make all you happy //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smash.gif.499e08a4a35ffaf54f4c8194fb8fe8ed.gif

nah man i dun care bout gettin any kind of bass at all from my 6x9s its just when i blew one sub and was waiting to get another i wanted some bass, it dont matter now i guess... im hooking the 6x9s back up to the HU i supose??or should i keep it hooked up to the amp?
