Alarm help

Okay so I've got a car with nothing but stock shit in it right now. But that's changing. I'll be putting around $1200 or so into the audio stuff. My DEH-P860MP will be arriving any day now and from there.. well shit I still haven't figured that out. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif

Anyway, back on topic.. I need to do something to feel relatively secure about my equipment. Here are my plans, let me know if I miss anything.

1) Don't "bump" my system a lot right around my house or right as I'm pulling up somewhere I'll be parking for awhile.

2) Take my faceplate with me, always.

3) Get my windows tinted as dark as the law allows.

4) Invest in a car alarm*

5) Always park my car in the garage, heh

So, I'm pretty sure I'm missing some of the more technical stuff, like bolting down certain parts of the system (amps?) and stuff like that, so any tips/advice would be appreciated.

Also about the alarm, I have zero idea on what to get. Although I will be doing 99% of the audio install via a friend of mine, his recommendation is to get a shop to install the alarm system due to it's complexity and it's need to just work. So that leaves me at wondering what specific brand/model of alarm to buy and also, for any Arizona folks, looking for a good place to get it installed that won't rip me off on the install price and/or **** up the install itself.

So yeah, help. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Thats it buddy. A good install would probably be around $50-$90. The prices vary depending on the shop, there really is not "set" price. You would need to call around to different shops, find out their warrenty policy and what not, and make your decision.

yep DEI

which are viper, python, clifford, and a few others. All are the same with the different brand name on them. A good one should cost you about 250 installed at a shop. There stuff has a lifetime warranty if bought and installed by a dealer.

don't buy an alarm on ebay

Yeah, got that same recommendation from a friend. I'll likely just find a local shop to drop it in there. I don't need an uber alarm anyway really, just a deterrant and functionality (door unlock, lights, panic, etc). If someone wants to get in my car, an alarm isn't really going to stop them.

ur deffently way off on that quote. i know that best buy schedules 4 hours for an alarm install. and they said that if i brought them my alarm i would get ***** on labor. and that goes with a shop too. i am going to buy a python 460hp at CC for 100.69 out the door uninstalled and me and my boys r gonna put it in. and that alarm is $200 installed. deffently get a DEI

once again anyone that says DEI is better then audiovox is fukin stupid. DEI makes the **** audiovox 2way now. so get your facts right and shut your mouth....

the new audiovox ax901 has way more feature that are better then the 791..

the fact that it comes with 2 remotes 1 2way and 1 1way. viper comes with 1 2way....

the new ax901 has a random horn honk generator so it simulates someone honking the horn in different ways to draw more attention to the car. the viper can only be on siren out or horn honk out not both like the audiovox.

it is cheaper cause it does not have the "viper" name....

the range is the same 1400' or 1/4mile....

the new audiovox has a turbo timer so u dont have to shut off your car when going into a gas station or to just cool down your turbos...

they both offer the same $2500 if your car is stolen and totaled with the alarm installed. this $2500 goes toward your deductible to cover it....

they both offer telematic upgrades the audiovox one is about $200 where as the viper one is around $500...

so does this say something other then everyones else moronics statements of

"DEI is just better"
