I just hooked up a AVN6620 in my vehicle. Everything hooked up exactly the same except I had to put the parking brake wire to a ground to be able to play dvds going down the road. When I put this one in I noticed my air bag isn't working could that parking brake wire be the problem? Any tips will be helpful

What year make and model vehicle? And is the airbag light on? Where did you connect the p-brake wire? Where is the p-brake?

2005 nissan pathfinder. The airbad light is flashing and in the manual it say if its flashing it's not working. I connected the p-brake wire to the cd player ground wire. The p-brake is on the left side of my brake

well, how many times does your airbag need to go off? maybe a fist will pop out of your airbag. that'd be nice.

what you did when you installed the radio you unplugged the passenger airbag light which is causing the vehicle to see a malfunction in the airbag system here is how to turn it off...

for future reference never unplug anything airbag related ever!!!

1. Turn ignition switch “ON”.

2. After “AIR BAG” warning lamp lights for 7 seconds, [i.e. when it stops running solid and starts flashing] turn ignition switch “OFF” within 1 second. [DO NOT SWITCH IT TO LOCK, SWITCH IT TO ACC]

3. Wait more than 3 seconds.

4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 two times. (Perform 3 times in total.)

5. Turn ignition switch “ON”.

SRS is now in Diagnosis mode.

In diagnosis mode, you're going to hope the light flashes slowly. 2 seconds off, 3 seconds on, and repeats. If your light does this, this means that the computer detected a previous error that hasn't been erased. This is good.

5. If “AIR BAG” warning lamp operates as [as I said before], turn ignition switch “OFF” to reset from Diagnosis mode

to User mode and to erase the memory of the malfunction.

6. Turn ignition switch “ON”. “AIR BAG” warning lamp operates in

User mode. [it should stay on for 7 seconds, then go off, like normal.]

I had the same thing happen in my car after removing the seats. I just took it down to the local shop, they checked it out and cleared the light. No problems, I just forgot to let my system fully discharge after taking the battery off power.

yeah there should be a sticky somewhere on this site that informs everyone that anything with any trace of yellow loom or tape on it should be left alone as it is airbag related...and its not all right in your face some of it his quite hidden as i found out on the glove box of an '05 BMW 7 series the plug itself had yellow on the underside...good thing i looked

Be carefull what you drill thru when going thru the firewall!!!

Its a nissan so youre in luck...common problem and one of the few cars that you can reset yourself. If there is a real problem than this wont work. You probably unhooked the airbag light sensor thingy in the dash bezel. Make sure it was connected again otherwise this wont work either. All that is happening is the sensor lost communication....

ere's the process to reset the air bag light (copied from somewhere else on the forum)... I tried it and it works.

If you have the airbag light, it will show steady for a few seconds (the manual says 7 secs) after you turn the key from off to on (but not start) and then start to flash. Here is how to reset it:

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

If it does not work the first time, just repeat the steps again.

Thank you all so much. I am going to try that first thing in the morning. Hell I may go try it in a min.It was very helpful and if it works I will let you know if not I know it is nothing major anyway lol.

The funny thing is, well it would have been funny if I had a wreck but I just hooked this up last friday and as soon as I got done I was headed to Florida and didn't notice it until half way there. Since yall know about nissans where could I get a good affordable high output alternator for it

There aren't a lot of HO alts for the Nissans. At least not the trucks. I've got a Frontier and have pretty well decided that a HO alt isn't going to happen but I don't expect tto need one.

In the future, if you need to pull the dash apart, make sure you disconnect the battery first and reconnect the dash plugs before you reconnect the battery to check things out. It'll save you the trouble of having to reset it again.
