Against JL audio?

They are both audio amplifiers.
Both should, and likely would, exceed the user's need for the product in terms of lifespan.

Both output approximately the same power.

Both offer approximately the same features.

Apples to apples.

JL = great value.

Good try, no prize.
Again:

QUALITY

If I could make it blink, I would.

The main comparisons I made of the JL amp to other amps were of equal quality. Brax and Genesis are higher quality than JL. If your arguement were true, all amps but bottom-of-the-barrel amps would be considered overpriced.

Again (would you listen this time) Compared to amps of SIMILAR QUALITY the JL costs 20% more than the next closest amp. JL priced it that way because they are balla and hood rats will pay for it. They could've priced it at $799, like the RF or Alpine, yet they chose to raise them $200 because they could. That, my friend, is why I consider the JL to be overpriced.

ding ding ding ding, we have a winner.

Though it's kind of amusing.....anything cheaper than JL is a good value compared to JL, JL is overpriced, anything more expensive than JL is worth it's value.
And you were questioning my logic?
And I never said that Brax and Genesis were worth their price tags. We can just save that for a whole 'nother thread. (I would never pay that much for an amp... I'll leave that for the crazy audiophiles)

Compared to JL, though, I would say that the RF, the Alpine, and the Kicker are a good value, though.

And again, you forget alllllll about the quality of the amp.

It is kind of funny after I read that the second time.

I wonder if jman can calculate just how under or over valued the products are? I mean, aren't amplifiers assets, therefore, could be classified as a security, and therefore valuated?

WHY?

This is more from an economic perspective than a "car audio" one.

What is your justification and methodology for assigning value?

Exactly. Where is the qualitative proof that any of the other companies make products that are on par with what JL Audio has made? Even if quality was identical, they still do not offer the same performance: the only other amplifier that does is just as expensive.

here's my methodology:

The JL is more or less the same quality and the same power as the RF T10001BD. Yet the JL is $200 more because of the simple fact that JL has the name to make people pay that.

It's the same reason I don't buy shit from Abercrombie and Fitch. They can sell a torn up pair of jeans for $100, yet I can buy a perfectly good pair of jeans at Wal-Mart for $20. They were probably both made by the same kid in china with the same material. The A&F jeans are a ripoff because they charge $80 more for a product that is more or less the same because they can.

However, isn't there other things that should be considered, such as application. I am curious how you can quantitatively. I assume that would be a qualitative measure...but nothing against JL. I don't diss Lowe's because they don't sell 1/2" mdf.

The bolded part has been proven time and time again in various economic journals, although never related to car audio.

I've seen a lot more angry threads about fuxed JL amps than Alpine or Kicker amps...

And the JL amp has noting on the others other than the regulated power supply and a Q control on the bass boost...

I'll take my unregulated power supply and my $200, thank you very much.

QUALITY

If I could make it blink, I would.

The main comparisons I made of the JL amp to other amps were of equal quality.
And again, you are basing this off of YOUR SUBJECTIVE OPINION OF QUALITY.

If I could make that blink, I would.

If your arguement were true, all amps but bottom-of-the-barrel amps would be considered overpriced.
It's not "my argument".

I'm using your own argument against you.

Similar power, similar features, similar "subjective quality", lower price point.

Again (would you listen this time) Compared to amps of SIMILAR QUALITY the JL costs 20% more than the next closest amp.
Define "similar quality" in objective terms.

You can't, because it's your subjective opinion.

JL priced it that way because they are balla and hood rats will pay for it.
Nice supporting argument.

They could've priced it at $799, like the RF or Alpine, yet they chose to raise them $200 because they could. That, my friend, is why I consider the JL to be overpriced.
So please go into more detail regarding the cost breakdown of JL amplifiers. Go ahead....since you know exactly what it costs JL to produce the product, cover overhead and R&D costs, distribution, etc etc.....please inform us all. Since, according to you, all of their costs are identical to every other manufacturer yet they tack on an additional $200 "because balla hoodrats pay it" charge.

You know nothing about how or why JL is priced at that particular price point (or any other brand, for that matter), yet use that as your argument regarding why they are overpriced.

JL has the capability of being more flexible with different subs.

Girls will fuck you because, and only because, you wear A & F jeans. I know some whores, but I never heard a girl say...."Bill looks so good in those Rustler's"...

Where are you looking?

Since when does JL use regulated PS's?

You're welcome, thanks for shopping at Amp's R Us. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/*******.gif.a649d21efc0d1fd4890a6428166586c1.gif

If I could make that blink, I would.

If those aren't of pretty much equal quality, I don't know what is. JL must be out there in a league of their own.

It's not "my argument".

I'm using your own argument against you.

My arguement of comparing apples to oranges over and over?

Similar power, similar features, similar "subjective quality", lower price point.

Define "similar quality" in objective terms.

You can't, because it's your subjective opinion.

All of these amps I have listed are known as solid performers. They all do at or above their rated power. They are all made by well-established brands who know have learned a thing or two about making amps over the years. I'm sure that if I wanted to invest more of my time in a silly internet arguement, I could find facts and figures to back it up.

Nice supporting argument.

So please go into more detail regarding the cost breakdown of JL amplifiers. Go head....since you know exactly what it costs JL to produce the product, cover overhead and R&D costs, distribution, etc etc.....please inform us all. I'm not even going to say what I was going to say because I have to be up in 6 hours to go to work and I don't fell like arguing any longer. If I feel like it, I'll write more tomorrow.

night.

I know the componets of the Iphone and why they matter, who makes them, etc.

I think if you could prove how the componets of JL audio amplifiers are similar to that of a Lanzar, then you would have a good argument, and therefore "pwn" both of them.

I don't think you can. I don't think I can. Personally, I think there is a difference, however, I cannot prove it. But the difference in quality of components and craftsmanship can be proven via various tests.

Such as durability (water, overpowering, clipping, etc)

Quality of componets (are the top of the line or bottom of the barrel)

Quality of service (does JL do anything extra that Lanzar does not)

"Hood Status" (There is an inherent value in that. On the balance sheet it is called "Goodwill" [i dunno if you canucks play that game])
