aftermarket head unit with stock dvd

I was wondering if there was anyway to connect an aftermarket cd player to the factory dvd player? It's a 2002 Saturn L-Series. The dvd player is a stand-alone unit. It connects to a flip-down screen.

I would think not. Unless you're a electronics tech that can rebuild/add to the factory unit to do such a thing, I can't see it happening at all.
