Advice on new install

You have your old wires? Might be something with the wires. If I were you I would get an amp that way you get alot more cleaner power and the wires will be the proper gauge.

thank you for backing me taylor you be a good man lol. i never said it was wise to keep them on the h/u i will never run them off a h/u. that's why my g/f's getting a 4 channel amp for the h/u and speakers i put in her car b/c i know amps on h/u's ****. i would say a small amp like everyone has said will be perfect. somethin like 50-75 watts per channel is right up your alley my man.

All the replies have been GREATLY appreciated.

Thanks

WS140 - Yes, I'm nearly positive I'm still using the stock wires. I have not done any of my audio upgrades, CC has done EVERYTHING and I doubt they run new wires?!!?!?

Eventually an amp will be my next move but first this is going back to CC so I can atleast get this shiznat working and sounding the way it outta. I still will refuse to believe my speakers are blown that is a possibility but i highly doubt it. Those suckers were expensive. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Can you guys answer me this though, If it is indeed a polarity issue wouldn't I have noticed the popping and crackling on the stock unit? If not, then why now? Also, all the speakers were replaced prior to the new HU so i've been running the new speakers on my old HU for quite a while.

Many Thanks...//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

First off- for all of you who seem to have your own pro-amp agenda here. Listen to the guy with the question here for christ's sake. He doesn't want to get an amp, and nor should he have to at this point. If putting in an amp is your only fix to this situation then I feel sorry for you. Yes amps are nice, hell I have four of them, but that's really not the point.

The wires from the wire harness of the new HU had to be connected to your factory wires, probably through an adaptor. However CC did it they had to make the physical connections. I really doubt that they got it wrong- but it is possible. So just because it worked on the stock that does not necessarily mean it is not a polarity issue. It just seems to me that this is a simple problem. You had a stock stereo and decent speakers and they sounded fine before the upgrade. Then all you did was swap out the HU and now they sound like shit. I seriously doubt all four speakers blew overnight, I doubt there is anything wrong with the HU. Simple problems lend themselves toward simple solutions. And what's more simple than incorrect polarity? It may not be right but there is no reason not to at least check. CC should be able to fix it fine and I really doubt they'll give you any problems. Make sure you let us know what it was.

Taylor- what does he having all his settings at zero have to do with the need for an amp? He has them at zero because that's probably the best spot with the lowest distortion. On a deck this size with the speakers he has, having the settings all the way up shouldn't even be creating distortion. Have you ever looked at the power output on a waveform analyzer for a HU? You talk like you have. How else would you know it is "dirty power"? It's true- it is dirty, but compared to an amp it's about the same. I know I've looked hundreds of times. The power in your components and the power they give off is only as good as the electrical system in your car. Case in point- how many people here have had a system in one car, changed cars (didn't change any components) and now they have a terrible whine or engine noise? It has nothing to do with the components. If you are going to bother to respond at least try and answer the question and not just fish for reasons he should go with your opinion.

whoa look at you trying to be a smart guy. first off taylor is a very good guy on this forum never does anything but help until you become a ******** then he won't help you he will flame you along with many others on the forum. i'm not at all saying you are being that just stating a fact. anyhow, a crap amp compared to a h/u amplifier has about the same waveform's however, get something of quality like a good amp or even a decent amp you will see much better results. hell even my old rf 120.2 that did 30watts rms per channel which is only 9 watts more than my 940 premier sounded hella better than running the h/u on my canton comps believe me i tried both. a small amp is the long fixed solution to his problem in my opinion. other than that yeah i say take it CC b/c without literally being there all we can give are options unless we have had the problem he has with is car and etc etc.

I'll have the answer to my problem sometime tomorrow afternoon after CC gives me the low down.

I'm tending to lean towards eengrams reponse as to the fact an amp will resolve the distortion issue. I have pretty top of the line speakers and a decent HU and logically speaking my setup SHOULD be rocking as it is without any high end distortion and an amp. Maybe the answer is an amp and if it then so be it. I guess we will all either learn something from this or to some it will reassuring.

Either way I cannot thank you guys enough! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Just stating an opinion. You guys have to admit- had GimmeTheSound asked for the "long-term" fix then telling him to get an amp would have been the appropriate answer. But he didn't. That's all I'll say. There is no reason to rehash it all. The point his he got his questions answered. Let's move on.

Thanks. I never said it would be "rocking" though, those were your words. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Now come on. I didn't say that, I only said he shouldn't have to get an amp to fix this problem. There is no doubt an amp would sound 1000 times better.

true true my bad. let's be movin on let the guy get it fixed and see if we can help him then. sorry i am goin on like no sleep threw my back out i been kinda pissy for 48 hours straight.

no prob m8. Hell I kinda threw my back out last week trying to lift one of those removeable bench seats out of my wife's van. **** those things are heavy!!
