Advice on buying an RTA

Hi,

I am getting somewhat serious about tuning my car for SQ and am considering buying an RTA, since I'm getting frustrated by trying to use a handheld radio shack meter to plot my frequency respone. I figure I could also use it in my home theater since I also participate in that side of the hobby, and possibly in a pro audio application since I play bass guitar in a band.

I see Audiocontrol models on a popular internet auction site quite regularly, they seem to be priced in the $350-500 for used models. Is this a fair price for an Sa-3050a RTA? How much does a new SA-3051 or SA-3052 go for? Do the 51 and 52 have any featuers that I would miss with a used 50a? Are there any problems with used AC RTA's that I should be wary of? Am I insane for spending this much money just to tune my system?
