Advice on budget build for dodge nitro

A friend of mine has a dodge nitro and wants to spend about $400 on a sub/box/amp. I myself spent a lot more on my idmax 12 and such, and im not very good with budget builds =P. I figure one 12'' or 15'' in a simple sealed box with 600-800watts for power, if that is possible. Any ideas on some good cheap subs and amps?

amp: audio pipe , soundstream rubi's, mb quarts, afew others i haven't listed

box: buy a sheet of mdf for 35$ or so and build one.. saves lots of money

I used to have a kicker 300x.1 amp powering a 150 sub in a prefab box and it pounded pretty well. All that, plus wiring could run about 400 on the high end.

amp bought off CL for 75

sub for 145 on PE

box 30 at wally world

wiring from anywhere.

Not recommending my old setup, but you could find some a decent sub in the classifieds and maybe bridge an AB amp. That should suit your friend, depending on their expectations.

and get a cheap kenwood amp off ebay and bridge it.

yeah.. check the classifieds on here if you don't mind running used.. you can save alot and get better eq at that.

Agree. Nothing wrong with used as long as it still works.

Believe me, I bought a lot of stuff used here, fi q, idmax, 9887, a few amps. As long as its in good shape, it does the job just fine. How are the dayton subs? I know some people that used them for home builds, not cars though.
