Hey, im currently about to upgrade my old system which is 2 10inch kicker cvr's at 4ohms each on 2 different power acoustik amps running at 425 a peice i think....anyway i am getting these different things and i wanted to know would this setup hit hard.

Box : Fierce Audio - XED 12" Dual Ported Subwoofer Enclosure

(bought for 20.00 from friend)

Subwoofers : (2) 12 inch Kicker CVR 4ohm DVC subs

(getting 2 of these)

Amp: Power-Acoustik-CPT1-2000-Monoblock-Amplifier

(1 of these)

Car : 2000 Mercury Sable

would this system be a good setup? i just wanna know before i buy anything.

and sorry to elaborate.... your just upgrading the size of the same subs it appears. There mildy ok at best. some people like them but there are so many better choices that will play louder and/or sound better. And much better choices for amps. From my experience those PA amps dont do rated power and are cheaply made.

Again give us a budget, if your up for used stuff or only want new and we can give you some good options.

As said above, better to be had,

If I gathered what I was looking at right, the amp does about 8xxRMS where the CVR's are 400rms, you would need to be very careful when setting gains, box probably isn't built for the CVR's

This. My opinions:

Box-We sell those at Best Buy. They look nice. I ran the measurements once and I believe they're tuned around 43hz (in other words, high). Built poorly. The single 12" version we have on display with a type R in it basically fell apart. I put multiple ugly screws into it to at least stop it from rattling. Currently, Best Buy sells them for 189.99. So if I were you, I'd toss it on craigslist and find a buyer. You can quadruple your investment with little effort.

Subs-Meh at best. Not a fan.

Amp-I've installed PA amps before. Not that series, the BAMF series and while overrated, but taking into consideration how overrated they are and the price they cost, they're not bad. That being sad, this holds for the BAMF series, I don't know if it's the case with that series. With 2 CVRs, or something in that power range, I don't see why you need a 2k watt amp. I'm sure you'd be happy with a solid 1-1500k watt that actually does rated. You'll have plenty of sub options to fit that range.

thanks for the info....the local audio shop i was going to get it hooked at up was trying to sell me 2 12 inch powerbass subwoofers. had never heard or seen those before and the reason im stuck on kicker is because i never have tried anything else. Alpine Type R's are great but expensive.

In a nutshell, it should sound ok. You need to do some research. You subs are rated at 300 watts RMS and 600 watt peak. I would recommend that you wire them down to 2ohm. The amp you mentioned is 2 ohm stable and rated at 870 watts at 2 ohms. So it will work based on numbers. The amp is not very efficient. As far as the enclosure goes, prefab boxes will do the job as long as it meets your subs specs. Research that portion. If you can get a enclosure built by someone I would go with that roue. Enclosures that are made specifically for a sub(s) will sound much much better.

Will it be loud? That is subjective. Are you going for SPL or SQ? I would think SPL based on what you have. Make sure you do not just crank up your gain on the amp because it is not loud enough or increase the bass boost to high. A lot of the time when people do this they increase the amount of dirty distorted power to the sub(s). Get a enclosure built with a slot port, make sure they tune the box for your car and subs. Even the best subs will sound like crap if the enclosure is not built right. You ever wonder why someone will be running two 12"s and another person will only be running one 12" with the same amount of power, but the guy or gal with one 12" is louder...it's the enclosure that made the difference.

So many other choices out there even on a limited budget. Most people in here can give you better choices.

Those are D4s arent they? the one i have collecting dust in my garage is at least anyways. If so youll have to go with an amp thats 1 ohm stable or that does decent power at 4 ohms. Alot of people like AudioPipe for the price. I think you can get a 1500w 1ohm stable amp for like 180 new or something like that. If your set on keeping that box maybe reinforce it with some screws, liquid nails so it holds up.

What kind of sound do you like. DO you just like it loud, do you like it to sound really good or a combo

My bad, I did not notice they were 4 ohm. Yeah, wire them down to 1 ohm. Are those subs Kicker CVR124 (07CVR124), if so they are rated at 400 watts rms and 800 peak. Really have not used the new kicker subs, I have done a few installs with CVR, L5's, and L7's. Not sure if I would put more than 400 to 600 watts to those subs. your getting. Also, if they are Kicker CVR124 the enclosures for them are rated for min sealed at 1.0 cu ft and 4.6 cu ft, ported at a min of 1.75 cu ft min and 2.25 cu ft max. I would spend a few more buck and get a enclosure made for those sub or even get a Probox. They have a probox that meets your specs and would be a nice combo with those subs. It should be loud enough on you. I willed get flamed for this, but your not gonna get a lot of SQ with CVR's. It will sound good enough though,
