advice on 97 cavalier rs "PLEASE REPLY"

I know lots of people that put money into there cavaliers, why? Because they want to and its THEIR car...let him do what he wants and stop ragin on him...im sure everybodys first car was a **** bently by how thier acting.

no my first car was a 89 Honda Accord but I had enough ****ing sense to know it wasn't a fast car and I shouldn't put an exhaust on it to make it sound like shit, or try and rice it out.

Rims, lowering springs/coilovers, and a good system is all you should do, anything else will PROBALLY just **** it up and make it look bad.

magik21782 if u wanna see my system its in my gallery. i have infinity refrence speakers 6x9's in the rear deck and 4x6 's in the front. as for my head unit its alright but could definitly be upgraded its a pioneer. a tsunami cap fairly nice, and my subs are mtx thunderboxx 8800. the are 1600 w total and 800 rms. i have 2 10's. my amps are nice orions. a 400 w 4 chan , and a 1000 w 2 chan. im happy with it for my 1st system its good. my cav is actually in almost perfect condition. so its not possibe for a bov? im not worried about having a ton of hp i mean come on its a cav. the body looks good but i wanna make it look better. im not going to go and drag it or nothin i just want it lookin fresh. i would like an exhaust but no not a cheap 1 . i have money 2 spend not enough to buy a new car but what should i do. i like streetglow alot.
Sounds like a great system man. No, you cannot have a blow off valve, those are for cars with Turbos. Like someone explained they are designed to let out the pressure that is in the intake tract when the throttle plate closes in order to not get compressor surge. You CAN put a blow off valve on a Non turbo car (yours) but it'd be really stupid and 100% absolutly pointless //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

In my personal opinion, i have NEVER heard a 4 cylinder car that does not have a turbo sound good... they all sound terrible to me, but like i said, that's my opinion. if you want to do that, go for it. but you asked for advice, and mine is DONT! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

if i were to put a blow off valuve on my car even being non turbo would i still get the sound from it when i shift? and if i were 2 purchase a bov would u recomend an exhaust to compliment it?

1) probably not as there isn't any "compressed" pressure. If there is any noise, you probably won't hear it over your engine.

2) exhausts don't compliment bovs... different things entirely.

edit: get a bypass valve, put it on your intake and run it to your exhaust. Get an open-valve so when your car isn't shifting, the air bypasses the engine entirely.

Shit, if you want power, buy a 1st gen DSM AWD Turbo. I see em all the time for a lil under 3k. If you want power, build on something that is MEANT for power. NOT a cavalier. Didn't we already explain this? Its a 4 cylinder N/A, its going to sound like shit no matter what. Looking nice is opinionated. I personally think they are all ugly as **** and would never touch em. Others like them.

Personally, get a better car then that.

I personally don't think doing anything to a cavalier is a good idea. They get horrible gas mileage. It seems as if it'll dent from just looking at it. And not to mention, they look absolutely horrible (although this is opinionated).

Putting in a sound system is something you do at your own discretion. I am in no position to speak as my parents bought me a Hyundai Sonata. It isn't the best car, but I do love music and wanted something better than what was in there originally.

I, personally wouldn't even put rims on a car like that. Just wait to get a better car. Once you get a better car and like the feel of it, then start adding to that. Don't waste your money on a car that isn't worth it.

For 1 bud you have been misinformed about gas mileage on the cavaliers. I get about 370-420 on a full tank of gas and usually lasts me about a week and a half. 2 you drive a friggin Hyundai Sonata. So whos car is crap. I love when other people rag on other peeps cars and then they say what they drive. Too funny man!

I am comparing my experiences with my car as to my friend's cavaliers. My sister's best friend drives a cavalier and must fill up constantly because she gets ~16 mpg. that is nowhere near what you drive. I have experience with the base models of these cars, and I am not sure if you drive another rendition of the car.

My sonata does not get the best gas mileage either, but it is a lot more reliable than one of those cavaliers has ever been.

Reliable lol! You know why they give out that 10 year 100 thousand mile warranty dont ya. Because you will be using it alot. I used to work at Midas Muffler and well we got cavaliers in there alot, but mostly for oil changes and check overs. Hyuandai's well that is another story, lol! We get them in and we are like dont you have that special warranty? Needless to say people dont pay attention to what is covered on there rides. I have saved hyundai owners alot of money.

Oh yeah what year cavalier are you talking about? If it is a 95 and up it should get decent gas mileage. 94 and unders had the 3.1 v6 or the 2.8 v6 and some cheaper models had a shit 4 cyl. I just dont know how she is only getting 16 mpg. Maybe it is because you are lieing! Hence your name.

for every1 hatin on every1 what was ur 1st car ? lemme guess a lambo? ferrari? o wait maybe a e-class benz? didnt think so im workin with what i got trying to make it nice as possible

97 cutlass supreme which came with 2 pyramid 12"s and a pyle 1200w amp. It got replaced with a vga1600 and sexxx15. I paid for the car by myself and all audio stuff and repairs by my self. I didn't do anything performance to it becuase I knew what it was.

16mpg huh that has either got to have a bad O2 sensor or they can't keep the foot outta it at all. I drive a '02 sunfire base model and i get 30+ everytime. I promise i'm not easy on the pedal either. So to get half what i get something is wrong its missing a cylinder or something lol.

True, my first car was a POS Saturn SL2. BUT, I didn't waste money on upgrading it. I got a good system (for my income) and saved up for the car I have now, a 96 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. Power, styling, and a kick *** system, all bought myself, at age 18. Am I asking for praise? No. Just saying, don't waste your money on pointless shit like rims, exhaust, and a FAKE bov to make an ugly car look like a pathetic attempt at ricing it out. I see cavy's like yours all the time around Ohio, its the car of choice with focuses. I laugh at em every time, because the drivers think it is the fastest thing ever. I was the same way with my Saturn, until I wised up and realized how much of a dumb **** I as being.

Save your money for a better car if performance matters. My friend is going through the same thing. He got a 99 cavy for free from his parents, and started upgrading it. Mostly all neon stuff, audio, and some engine. Well, now he hates it, but has no money because it went towards his POS, and nobody wants to buy a 'custom' car, let alone a cavalier. Now he wants to get a 300zx, or an older RX7, but has to find a way to sell his shitty cavy first.

But, it doesnt matter what I say. You won't listen to any of it. You haven't yet at least.

what color is it?

2 or 4 door?

cavaliers can look decent...though poeple often over do them...aka wings, buzzers, altezza's ect..

depending on color i'd say at the most tint for apperence and maybe different headlight bulbs...

D O N O T P U T A B L O W O F F V A L V E O N Y O U R C A R, Y O U W I L L G E T M A D E F U N O F A N Y W H E R E Y O U G O

Listen to what people are telling you, don't try and make this car somthing its not. No exhaust, it will sound like SHIT, no lights, no spoiler, no body kit, NO BLOW OFF VALVE.

Put some nice wheels on it, lower it, tint it, and make sure you change your oil ever 3k miles.

Or go buy an SRT4, then you can have a blow off valve.
