advice for 8's in doors...

after doing some measuring it appears as tho i can fit an 8' in my door.. granted it will take some work and cant be the biggest 8 but i got a decent amount of room to work with (depth of about 5)...

but im guessing even fitting a small 8 subwoofer wouldnt be a good idea...? i know the door as an enclosure is what limits me the most.. ill deaden the doors but i still know that wont be enough to go insanely low.. thats why i need some advice... now basically my choices a smallish 8 inch sub... or a beefy 8 mid.... that costs like $100 each tops.. that can also at least keep up in the 200-350 range

the cup idea is a good idea. i use the kicker ssmb8 mids they are shallow and they get low with out enclosure

i would recomend peerless exlcusive i have no expierence with the mids but a person on this forum who has used them loved em

yeah ia ctually looked at the kickers... but i wish i could find something that could take a little more power...

and i just looked up the peerless.. those actually look very nice.. wish they had slightly more excursion and cant see how much real power they take.. even so if i ever built a 2 way setup.. i'd def look at those

An 8 with good door treatments won't require much power for good output.

Plenty of deadening and sealing up access holes as much as possible. Ensolite and acoustical foam are couple add ons also.

my main concern is i dont want something that will bottom out before my 6.5's do (crossed at like 80)... thats whats limiting me the most with the speakers i got now.. i would like to have the 8's crossed low as possible (at least 60) and be able to play 60-200(350+ preferably) cleanly but not bottom out with 100 watts (of real power)

I ran my Daytons at around 150 80hz. I thought the door was gonna explode...lol

Ok, round two. What's plenty? It's too relative.

What does Ensolite do? At what thickness?

Acousitical foam? Open cell? How much? Where?
