Adjusting new sub - quick and dirty please?

I wouldn't mess with the box. Build a new one before trying to make it a ported box. I have seen custom boxes behind the rear seats for every major truck maker. It may not be ideal but it is possible.
Well, after reading the "Owner's Manual" for this speaker, JL does not recommend installing it in a ported box. The recommendation is for a sealer box .8 ft cubed. The box it is in measures .83 ft cubed by my calculations. Maybe I should just leave well enough alone in this case. I did not have time to measure behind the seat to see if it will fit, but keeping fingers crossed that will work out. I assume the best way to point it would be firing to the rear against the back wall of the cab?

set lpf at 100-150hz, turn the 50hz &80hz down to 0 or -1 or2 (if u don't have hp xover on speakers) see if that helps boost the 12.5k to +3-6 that'll help highs (if hu has xover for regular speakers set it at 80hz)
Made these adjustments at lunch time today while enjoying a gourmet #3 from Jack in the Box in their parking lot. After setting the gain properly last night and then these adjustments I can say it is sounding even better. I ordered the RUX Knob to plug into the amp. Use that to add more bass and I think I'll have what I want. Right now the bass is kinda unimpressive. It's there and it fills the void, but I don't feel it in my britches. I feel like I need to "turn-it-up" a bit.

I can say though...the music is clear and crisp.

cool u can re-adjust until u get it about right and learn how high to turn volume on hu on different songs louder on some lower on others, u basically controlling the gain from hu with volume, also check sub volume on hu..

Sub Volume would be set in the Speaker Levels?

I had it at 9 last night. I didn't like it. But that was before making the adjustments you recommended so I'll try it again.

My problem is I am tone deaf and lost high tone hearing in my right ear (gun shots). So its hard for me to adjust by ear.

I made the adjustments you suggested boomingrandpa. Fine tuned the EQ on the way from work. Lowered the lows a bit. +1 on 50, +4 on 80 and 125. +1 on 200. That's the bass I was looking for. Then I have the highs sloped from 3.15k at +1, 12.5k at +6. That gave me the symbals and lead I was looking for. The middle is flat. Funny...when I was a teenager I did the exact opposite with my eq in my bedroom. I liked highidrange and low bass. I've refined over the years, or my hearing has changed or I got a booming stereo finally.

Thanks for all the guiding guys. I.learned some.

Nate
