Added a 1.5F cap...sub doesn't hit as hard

I added a performance teknique 1.5farad cap on my sub power lines...it's getting a constant 13.8v, my sub doesn't hit as hard anymore ever since i put the cap on.

i maxxed the gain and bass-boost, and it helped it, but not like it was before the cap

Its probably because caps ****.

Its a common misconception that the cap helps boost your electrical system, but all it does is offer a buffer against sudden voltage spikes. In reality it actually hurts your electrical system if you have a power deficiency because no caps are 100% efficient. That makes it actually create a larger strain on your electrical system then before, which is why your sub is quieter now.

Your amp will soon die if you do not adjust your settings because you have the gains set improperly and you have the bass boost on, which is almost certainly causing clipping. In addition since your electrical system is under a lot of strain, chances are that the amp will have severe voltage drops, which can kill your amp.

And your sub will die soon because of the clipping as well.

Not once did I mention I bought the capacitor. I just added it for the hell of it...I will adjust the gain and take off the cap. Seems worthless now.

i was readin on this guys site that getting a new alt is usually the last thing you want to do only if you really have to cuz it kills your horsepower and gas mileage and they are really expensive. shouldnt he just update his big 3 first?
