My dad has a acura legend with a bose system. The system sounds like crap to me and he wants to get a new head unit to replace the stock one. For me to do this do i have to change out everythin? b/c i am planning to just replace the front speakers with some components with a clarion cd player. Do i still have to bypass the factory amp?

I've got an RSX that came with a bose system. I didn't bypass the sotck amp for a little while (couple of months) but i think its very recommended ASAP.

The amp kind of ****s things up cause you can't turn your headunit up past 4 it wwill distort at like 6-7, cause the signal goes through the headunit amp then the stock amp(this is a very bad thing).

You could get a line output converter which will turn the RCA's(preouts of the headunit) into speaker leads and then feed that to the stock amp and turn the headunit amp off.

Bypass the amp. Either use an amp bypass connector or just wire the speakers straight to the HU. Either way works fine, with the first being the easiest, and the second being a good way to upgrade your wiring and running the wires where you want them to go for easy access later.

well the thing is im not gonna amplify the components. Imma just have them run off the aftermarket head unit. Can i just buy the regular harness and it still works or would i have to run new speakers wires from the speaker right to the head unit.
