If your looking at fatmat on ebay I wouldn't recommend it. Its asphalt based, I've used it before in the past and its a pita and not the stickiest stuff.

Only heard good things about the bxt, good and cheap. I've run the dynamat extreme and its good stuff, but as you've found its hella pricey, especially local.

X2, and I think I saw someone selling some here in the last couple of days.

thanks guys. im stayin away from fatmat but the dynamat xtreme is pretty cheap for 36sqft. and these another company that used a 60mil and 100sqft for $140. whats the best MIL to get 60 or 80

How many sq feet do you think id need to do just the front doors?
what kind of car? i have a cavalier. i have so far only used 4 sq ft of dynamat extreme per door and now that i have a roll of raamat i plan to probably do like 20 sq ft total per door so it varies on how many layers you want and size of doors too

I just want to do one layer I guess

and I have an accord.

Think I could get away with just a small pack of it for like 50 bucks? Or would that not even make a difference if I did not do the back doors and trunk as well

cool good to know i figured to lower the thicker. whats a good mil to use?
Not sure there is a magic number. Thick is good, but it comes to a point where personally I wouldn't like it to be so thick it makes installation on uneven surfaces a *****. You can always do two layers if you want it thicker in areas.

All of the cheap eBay brands I've seen are asphalt - even the ones that claim to be butyl. Not worth using. Stick with the brands you've heard of - Dynamat Xtreme (watch out for Dynamat Original) RAAMmat, Second Skin, Cascade are all good enough. Second Skin and Cascade are deluxe.

If you have speakers in your doors, you want to do both surfaces - the inside surface of the exterior sheet metal and the interior surface that the trim panel mounts to. You also might want to close up the access holes.

To save money, don't apply it in even layers - concentrate on the centers of panels and areas away from bends and welds.
