AA mids vs. type R mids

i have the type R comp set. i have been thinking about swapping out the midbass driver for a set of AAs drivers.

do you think this is worth it, the type R set doesnt sound bad a little hazy at time though. im running 125rms each side.

I thought the weak point in the Type-R set was the tweets..

honestly i dont think so. they are silk so they may not be up to par with someone who likes something sharper like a metal tweet. but i definatly think they have nice detail and are clear and do get loud.

nah. the type r mids seems muffled to me. the tweets were nice.

That's exactly how I would describe it also, muffled. The tweet seems ok, gets loud like you said without distortion, but the midbass is a weakness. The highs are far from harsh like a metal dome so if you like most metal domes you won't like the Type-R silks. Personally I've never heard a metal dome tweeter that I liked, and I've heard some pretty high end ones.

hmm i wasnt planning on getting rid of the tweets, maybe a little down the road. how much do you want them for though?
