attenuate the mids or tweeters?

I have a 3 way system...
despite having adjusted the levels of all the speakers, the problem remains that the highs are sometimes a little annoying.
I would like to know what is the range of frequencies that can usually bother the ear.
2000/4000Hz?
my mids were set to 4600 Hz while the tweeters were set to 5000 and above.
I should lower the mid tones, equalizing them, right?...or even the tweeter?

You can use the following chart to help identify what frequencies are causing you grief. You also may be experience comb filtering due to phase relationships between the drivers. You also may be experiencing comb filters due to reflections.

Phase issues can generally be fixed by time alignment if you have that feature. You can troubleshoot for reflections by laying a thick towel over reflective surfaces such as the dash or tranny tunnel. A common cause of comb filters is the driver's side window. Try rolling down the window/s to see if the problem diminishes.

the time alignment has already been done.
anyway you were right!..I listened with the windows down and the improvement was truly remarkable!..
the midranges expanded and blended with the woofers perfectly..
the sub seems to sound much more in phase with the front.
it feels like listening in high quality headphones!..
there are no peaks of any kind.. and everything mixed perfectly!..
every frequency is soft, warm and enveloping.
if I close the windows the mids detach themselves from the rest and I feel them to be drier and more annoying.

Those reflections are tough to deal with. You can try equalizing. If you have a stereo equalizer, then you have chance of over coming the reflections. If you're EQ isn't stereo, it's going to be tough sledding. This is why competitors will mess with alot of different locations and mounting angles.

I have a DSP.
32 bands for each speaker.
Maybe I can try to solve the problems this way?...
I would say to concentrate between 1000 Hz and 5000.
