A question for papermaker

Your an electrician? I saw your post on tough nickle a few months back and a post on here. How do you like the career field. How did you get started. Give me the scoop

He's mostly a bullshit talker. I've got a couple friends who are union electricians. IMO if you can get into any trade union it's good. They pay well, have good benefits, there's always work (if you're willing to travel and competent) and if anything ever happens to you they take care of you.

Over worked underpaid. If you make it till you retire you will be done.

It's not a bad trade it's a lot of hard work and you can make good money on the road average electrician working on the road makes anywhere from 8ok to 110k just depends on the hours.

If you actually get a master's license in your state typically you get paid about 50 bucks an hour to use your license but it's a f****** nightmare cuz you got idiots that'll get your license revoked.

If I could do it again I would go to Tech school for PLC programming and troubleshooting you can make about 7,200 but I mean you don't do nothing but program you hook a laptop up your program is function test and that's all there is to it

Right now I'm making 60000 on 40 hour weeks with excellent benefits and I hardly work working as a technician sometimes it's a b**** but most of the time I don't do nothing but preventive maintenance.

You'll be hard-pressed to find any electrician that knows as much as me especially in the field when stuff is breaking down and they need somebody to fix it fast.

We don't have no Union in Louisiana FYI the big all companies and a big companies here squash the Union I'm still making a decent wage plus when things break down I get overtime I typically breaks down to $500 a day.

Ask a question and I'll tell you how it works how to wire it and how to troubleshoot it.

Unions are a joke nowadays....all they want from ya is $$$$$.

My gf's nursing union is beneficial. Unions for the most part are good but they aren't needed everywhere.
Needed is irrelavant. They want it because it pays better than if the employer paid less. However, I have a problem with unions as they limit people as to what they can do and cannot do, in some aspects/areas. Boeing for example here is huge. Every 5 yrs or so we hear of a union strike for machinists. They have no idea they got it made over there and yet they still aren't happy?! I mean 30/hr and no out of pocket insurance?! Who the hell complains about that?! My insurance has a 2600 dollar deductable.....it's retarded. Beyond ridiculous.

I pay 15 dollars a month for full benefits.

The union dues are 10x what I pay and I have the same benefits..

Your understanding of the aviation industry is incorrect. Boeing is the white sheep in my opinion.

30/hr is nothing considering the regulations and requirements for working on these systems. machinists may be a little lower than others, but at the same time the working knowledge to work with those systems is phenomenal

start talking 40/hr plus full benefits and i'll consider that reasonable for an experienced worker. i'm fresh out of college and have been offered 30-35/hr but that doesnt include benefits or taxes
