After browsing a few posting, it looks like most people here are car audio enthusiasts. To you all, I apologize in advance for the level of my question, as it is likely a car audio 101 (and class 1) level question.
I got my factory-build radio stolen (Honda Accord 1999) - not sure why people would need it these days ?@?#?$
So I purchased an aftermarket audio trying to hook it up myself.
I have done the following -
(a) get a wiring adapter (for Honda)
(b) hook the audio wiring harness to the wiring adapter (color to color)
© hook the adapter to the factor wiring harness.
I did a test-run and radio ran fine (testing period: ~ 1hr) after the car engine started.
My confusion -
(a) I read a few postings about grounding the radio, but am not sure if I have done it correctly. Does "grounding the radio" mean radio black(ground) wire connects to adapter black wire, which will ground the radio when connecting to factor wiring harness (which I assume has a black wire connecting to part of the car chassis as grounding)
(b) based on the following link The Install Doctor - Honda Accord Stereo Installation / Honda Accord Radio Installation
(hope posting an outside link doesn't violate any rules on this forum). For Honda, there seems no need to do FURTHER GROUNDING, as the picture shows black/ground wire from radio connects to black/ground wire from factory wiring harness. However, many other postings emphasize grounding the radio "directly" to car chassis, although they did not specify the car models. Do I need a "direct" grounding ?
© one of the clips on youtube showed one type of adapter has a black/ground wire with a "hook", which is used to be screwed in with some bolt touching the car chassis. As the adapter for Honda does not come with such a hook, (going back to (b)), do I still need to ground it through car chassis?
Any insight will be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time reading (and hopefully answering) it.
