I have a dual xhd6425 deck , two Kenwood KFC 6972ie 6x9's, two Sony explod r1341 5.25, one Rockford punch z 10" sub, a dual kpp 4640 600watt 4ch bridgeable amp, and a Kenwood kac-6201 350watt 2ch bridgeable amp.
I installed the 6x9's in the rear deck of my 95' escort 2dr hatchback. The 5.25 are in the door. The 10 is in a q-logic truck box. The radio had no sub out just rear and front rca so I used y-splitters from my front 5.25 speakers. The sub is hooked to the 2 ch Kenwood amp bridged. I have the the two 5.25 and two 6x9's hooked to the 4ch amp.
The 4ch amp channels are set to high level for the speakers, the 2ch is set to low pass. The 4ch has crossover controls and that is one issue that I need help with. I am unsure how to adjust those. I also haven't adjusted the gain the way it should be, I just cranked them up until there was no distortion.
I had the 5.25's and 6x9's on full pass filter with the gain turned down on the sub when I first hooked up the sub and second amp. I felt the sound was good but the bass wasn't enough. So instead of turning up the gain on the sub amp I instead turned the high pass filter on for the 5.25's and 6x9's. I then couldn't hear much bass and cranked up the gain on the sub amp. It sounds good now but I don't think I have those crossover frequency knobs on the 4ch correct. I played a song where the bass went low to high and in the middle there was a leap. Like it jumped over from low to high without playing in between. I don't remember hearing that song play like that before.
I want to keep both amps and want the rear 6x9's hooked up to the amp. I have read that some people toss their 6x9's completely. I like the extra sound since my hearing isn't the best. Can someone tell me the steps they would take to tune this system? Thanks!
