A newbie needs HU advice

I just got myself a 93 Cadillac Deville, and I am pleased. I am currently shopping around for a HU, as the factory tape deck is not even cutting it.

I got about $200 to spend, and my main desire is MP3 playback. Excellent sound is of course a must. I do have desires when I save some cash up to build a really filled out system, but I imagine a $200 deck may not be appropriate to power a fulltime system.

I've had my eye on the Alpine 9827 and the Sony M850MP, so that's the kinda league I'm checking out. I came here because a friend of mine suggested these forums to me as a place with some great knowledge, so if you guys would be nice enough to help me out, I'd really appreciate it.

I actually have a Sony CDX-MP30 MP3 player that I'm selling for around $135 if your interested. It's only about a year old...great condish...could possibly get a few pics up for you if you want. Peace

I was looking at those Pioneer decks, and I am interested in the 7600. But I also see the Premier 760, and they look exactly alike. I know Premier is like their high class brand, but is there really any difference?

I actually have a Sony CDX-MP30 MP3 player that I'm selling for around $135 if your interested. It's only about a year old...great condish...could possibly get a few pics up for you if you want. Peace

i had a premier 3500,,, and then i just recently got the 7600 non preimer,,, and there was no difference besides the color,,, the premier is chrome facce plate lookin,, and the non premier is dark dark silver... wich matches my half din eq better //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Back in the day there used to be a big difference between a Premier and a non-Premier, ofcourse there was also about a $100 difference. Anymore the difference is nothing other than a few cosmetic changes and a two year warranty on the Premier (if bought authorized).

I know on my deck DEH-8600MP and the premier version which is DEH-860MP the premier version is different only in that it has 6.5V preouts vs. my 4V preouts and has some PRO function which allows adjustablity of the highs/mids/lows.

Tis true back int eh day, teh premier line had more of a difference, but nowadays that's not true.

I think nowadays the main difference is the voltage differences of preouts.

actually i like the DEh-7 series , especially the new ones ... i prefer pioneer HU , i didnt use ALPHINE b4 , so i cant tell,

it also says reserve not yet me. So, if it doesn't get to the minimum price he wants to sell it for...he does not have to sell it. $125 plus shipping isn't at all bad for that HU...at that price...mp3 capapbility and the features it comes with. New when it came out for $400...i mean, it's a respectable HU for that price. peace
