A little advice - Audiobahn H2300HCT

*disclaimer* I understand Volfenhag and even Audiobahn are not high on the pecking order here.... but with that said I could use your opinions on what im about to put together.

I have (4) 15" Volfenhag DVC subs and a Audiobahn A2300HCT amp.

This amp, on paper, says it will do 2400w rms @ 1ohm, should be enough to push the 4 subs correct?

I have them wired in parallel through one VC of each sub which should give me the 1ohm load at the amp, I believe?

It sounds like the subs are under powered right now (actual sound in the van)

its in a 95 caravan with a wall, 1/0 stinger wire to the extra battery in the back. amp is wired with 4ga.

Each sub has 2.0cu/ft sealed.

Now before the flaming begins (just from reading the other threads of less than good equip), this is stuff I had laying around... im on a budget and will replace items as money allows, but this is what I have for the moment.

Thanks

After re-reading that post it does sound a bit harsh.. for my first post here lol. Sorry about that, I figured I'll get blasted for mentioning the "V" word here... but its all I have and need to make the best of it for now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

you should use 1/0 for wiring the amp also. you said the subs are DVC, are they dual 2 or dual 4? you can only get a 1 ohm load with those 4 subs if they are dual 2. if the subs are in a wall you should port the wall and you'll get a lot more output. hope this helped. good luck

1. Agreed.

2. Correct.

3. Depends on what results the OP is after (SPL, SQL?).

They are dual 4ohm, I was only using one coil to fire the sub (trying to get it to a total of 1ohm at the amp. Looks like I'll need another amp along with this one? One per set of subs.

I did notice that with both front doors open, it seems nearly twice as loud which would indicate some cancellation going on?

Thanks for the help! I'm new to the larger systems and definatly appreciate any help I can get.

1. Whoa watch the gain when only using 1 VC per sub like that! Or have a fire extinguisher handy. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

2. Unless you want to run 3 of them wired like so=

I. Two subs each having their DVC's wired in series (8 Ohms each sub), the third sub having it's DVC's wired in parallel (2 Ohm total).

II. Wire the two 8 Ohm subs in parallel (4 Ohms total).

III. Wire the 2 Ohm sub in parallel with the 4 Ohm load of the other 2 subs.

IV. Your amp should now operate at 1.333 Ohms, which might be plenty of power for those three subs.

Short version = 2 Ohms in parallel with (8 ohms parallel with 8 ohms) = 1.333 Ohms at the amp.

I see what your saying... I'll have to just wire these up as 4ohm for now and see what to do about the subs.

On that note, Is that amp something to work with? or is it "ok" to build on.

I'd also like to see what Subs you recommend, something for that size enclosure, more SPL than SQ at this point.

best bet to figure how the wire them is go to jl's website, or rockfords and check out how to wire them to a 1ohm final load to get the most power from your amp.

they have good diagrams there, and will show you exactly how to wire all 4 subs right.

those audiobahn amps will run below 1 ohm. @ 1 ohm and below they are power hogs

you need more than 1 batt for that amp. I ran 1 of those amps @ 1.3 ohm with 2 optimas, a batt cap 400 and an iraggi 220. i had a voltage droping to the 11s. oh that amp was also 2 dbs down in my setup from a memphis mojo 2000d.
