A few questions on which amp to get..

I was wondering what amp(s) you'd all suggest to run 2 12" Type R's (500w 4ohm)... From what I've gathered I've been looking for a two channel 1000w amp that should have 500w rms outputs bridged 2x but I dunno if that's right because I haven't really seen any that aren't extremely expensive. I've seen mono amps but if I interpret that correctly that means it should only power 1 sub. Would it be cheaper to go with 2 mono amps or can you wire one to power 2 subs?

What I'm really looking for here are just product suggestions. I really don't wanna buy a garbage amp so I'm looking for suggestions on exactly what to buy.

you can wire a mono amp to drive as many speakers as you want, as long as you dont go too low on the ohm load.
