so im about to start putting in my system. i havent really decided on what subs i want to use. im debating between some12" infinity kappas, kicker 10L7's, id 12idq's, jl audio 12w3v3s, or maybe something else. ive decided to go ahead and buy a new hifonics bxi1606 amp. i will prob be using my factory deck for now until i get a double din screen. i will be using a sealed enclosure that will be going under the rear seat. here are my box options. im leaning more towards the black armor coated one since my truck has black leather. and it also has more of a mounting depth.the onlything i like about the subthump one is the amp rack, but i can put the amp somwhere else as well.

here are my questions. which sub and box would fit best. looking for nice sounding bass, nothing to distorted but will get plenty loud as well. i like clear deep bass. also would it be a good idea to get a seperate battery to run the system? there is a place under the hood for another battery and i was thinking of doing that to save my trucks electrical system. any other input and suggestions would be appreciated as well. thanks

I also have a 2008 Chevrolet Crew cab and have been trying to decide b/w these box options as well. As far as fit goes I would say they will all work great as they are specificaly made for the '08 Chevy Crew Cab application. As far as choosing b/w them you really just need to see what the mounting depth on the subwoofers you are wanting to use.

Subthump --> 6.5" mounting depth w/ .83 cu. ft. sealed per side

Car Audio Factory--> 7" OR 8" mounting depth (depending on which of the 2 styles available) w/ .86 cu. ft. sealed per side

IMO I would go with the sealed box that best matches your subwoofers. If you have upgrades in mind for the future, I would go ahead and go with the largest box as it will give you the most room to work with considering possible future upgrades.

Just my $.02

yea i dont have any subs yet.. thats what i was wanting input on as well. im not sure what would be best
The subs I have considered running under the back seat in my truck sealed has been between the older style Eclipse Aluminum subs or a pair of RE SE's.. Again that is just 2 of many different options that I have considered..

thanks for the info. im still debating on which subs i want to get and if i need a battery
I ran a 15" 9500 with around 1600 watts running to it w/o a 2nd battery

I also ran a 15" RE XXX w/ 1600 watts w/o a 2nd battery

It's really up to you, obviously it would definately not hurt to have another one, but if you are on a tight budget it is not a "must"

Back had to let the dog out.

Both of these should sound good in that enclosure, with a little polyfill.

RE SE 12

I've never heard either of these, but I did a ton of research on small sealed enclosures. I was going through the same thing a few months ago that your going through now. I searched on a few different sites and over all I narrowed it down to either the Fi Q or the RE SE. Both sound good and get loud at the same time.

They should work well in this enclosure also.

Do some searching on the Fi Q and the RE SE. They work well in small sealed enclosures, and there's a lot of good reviews & info on them.
