99 Taurus install (pics)

I wanted to avoid hurting any of the stock parts on the car so I could keep it in good condition for a trade in or what so ever. I do know that the ground and power are the same size but I'm not sure exactly what size. What would you guys recommend?
A good way to avoid damaging the vehicle or its contents would be to set the stereo up correctly. As is stands now, that 16ga wire must be getting rather hot when you push the stereo hard.

Jmanpc - I know the amp isn't that great I'm saving up trying to get a new one I know the one I have is only pushing about half the power the subs can handle. If you think it's so ugly then what would you do to make it better?
Pl8er - Would it be better if I cut a small hole in the wall right by where the RCA's go to my amp and put them in through there?
You just don't want the RCA right next to the power and ground. If you can run them in different directions, that would be helpful. If you are not hearing any engine whine you either don't have an amp running to your front end or just got lucky.

I do agree though, upgrade the power wire. It just isn't large enough.

Listen to Player and audioholic. Good guys that know their stuff.

I would change out that wire for sure! To save space, maybe put it on the back of the box with some rubber feet to lift it off from the box in case you are worried about vibration and what not. I have mine on the box with out rubber feet and does fine. Other people will say it will ruin it. So that is why I mention the feet. It will clean it up and won't have shit moving all over the place.

Also try to bolt your box down to the trunk. Is not that hard, just need to be careful.

Good luck and happy bassing!

I thought you said you HID the wires? Wtf is that in the trunk?! Basura..

Good job completing your first install, we all start somewhere //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

I think he meant hid the wires under the carpet in the passenger compartment. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Agreed, and agreed. It does not look too bad, I have seen far worse from people that have install plenty of car audio. Sadly, this is what I have to fix when someone tries to install there gear without doing a lil homework first.

On another note, my first install was not nearly as good as this, lol so I think you got the right idea, just take some of the advice from this thread and go from there. Good luck, and have fun.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Looking a this pic again makes me so mad:

If you went to the trouble of running the wire OVER the top of the carpet, why not just go UNDER it on the side.

After reading everyone's suggestions I'm going to put some 4ga wire in there. I have a few questions about doing that though. How should I go about getting the wire from the battery to my trunk? Right now I have it running up the side down the door and I have it going into the car underneath the little rubber tube that you can see when you open the door and from there it goes to the trunk under the carpet. Another question is when I crimp the wire is it going to fit into my amp?

I think I'm also going to try to come up with something to mount the amp on my box or the fold down back seats not sure which one yet I'm going to look into that more.

After thinking about moving my RCA jack so it's apart from my power wire I realized that I have my power wire and RCAs running to the truck together anyways so would that defeat the purpose of moving it? Also would it be a good idea to try and run the RCAs around the passenger side instead of the drivers side with the power wire?
