97 Ranger exhause problem HELP

what if i were to cut that section out. like a foot of pipe including the coupling and found a pipe at advanced that would slip over the 2 halves and then just clamped it. would that work?

what about back pressure? this would be between the muffler and the engine.

would this affect performance? even a slight bit?

nothing noticeable as long as you get the correct size pipe
