96 GMC Rebuild

Got my braces made up, Plumber buddy hook up he cut the pipe to length and threaded them. After a lot of gruntting lol the threads are tapered and get tighter as you tighten them so cranking them down to the correct length was some work then made sure the sub cleared them i got them squared up and screwed down, siliconed the screw heads to make sure they dont come loose.

**** sturdy box!!

Picked up some carpet today and got everything except the sides done - ran out of glue lol! I saw a vid on YT or somewhere once that said to router a groove around the edges of the side panels to make it much easier to carpet, so I gave it a shot and I gotta tell you its so much easier ! I did all the panels between baffle and box too cuz I got an Idea to cover the baffle too. I will post pics soon.View attachment 26552978View attachment 26552977View attachment 26552979View attachment 26552980View attachment 26552981View attachment 26552982View attachment 26552983

I am going to test fit it in the truck tomorrow and will let you know how that works out for me ha ha !

No I totally dig that ! I am already thinking of something else cuz that one is kinda boring and generic and I was just getting ready to carpet it and stopped.

Every time I've taken my false floor and box out of the evo it's a hassle. Barely squeeze it all in. I wish you the best of luck!

I did a test fit today ! Jeez it fits perfect -les than an 1/8 clearance on each side at the top and back. I was really sweatin it! I figured I would have some grinding and sanding to do. But all is well ! It will slide back about 1/2 - 3/4 inch more when I take existing amps off back wall, Then it will be a perfect fit !

Well I had high hopes of getting some things done today. But unfortunately I washed truck and covered the ends of the box and that used up all my enthusiasm lol chillin now. So not much to post. Maybe I will work on it tonight?

how big is that box? im trying to get away with a backseat box that doesn't have that much height so im curious how much volume that ends up being

did you seal up your rear pressures vents on the back of the cab?

I think it is 17 ish to start with and after displacements I am guessing around 14.5- 15 net and I dont have those pressure vents its only on next body style I think ? But I may swap those rear quarter windows out with the work truck fixed windows cuz they were a presure loss even before with the single 18.my old box was close to 11 cf and around 7-8 after displacements under back window line

yeah i figured that was a massive box, i can probably squeeze 5-7 cubes out without going above the rear seat then. the interior in the back looks really similar, but you're probably right about no vents. I need to seal mine off I can watch them open when the bass hits.
