9512's in a daily driver

I'm about to pick these up, but just wanted to know how they would work out in a daily setup. I know there SPL oriented, which is what I'm looking for mainly, but I don't want it to sound like complete garbage either, and I haven't had the pleasure of hearing these subs in person yet. So if anyone with any expereicne with these subs could help me out a little bit, I'd really appreciate it.

they can be made to sound very good. throw 1500-2000 at it and you will be fine.

obviously it will take a lot more

They sound pretty good for daily drivers. I heard one at 1700w and it was loud as hell. But it sounded good too.

digital designs subs are really nice for SQL & SPL.

if you get a bass knob you'll have the best of both worlds by you can adjust the bass knob to have SPL or turn it down for SQ daily driving.

Might be kind of dumb questions here. But why wouldn't I want to use a bass knob? and also, someone mentioned a formula to me before about how to figure out how many amps a amp would pull from the car and I was wondering what that was, so I could see what I needed to upgrade my alt to. the specs of your amplifier will tell you how much amps it will need.
