'95 Caddy Deville - 2 Fi Qs, Custom Trunk

Hey guys this is Matt back here with another update... since someone apparently decided to go on a banning spree and ban all of the "noobs" for a month I will continue on with my build log...

I started glassing my doors for the speakers today. I work with fiberglass for a living but this was a bit of a challenge because the resin kicks so fast! I put one ply of mat down, and then I tried to put on a ply of some thick fiberglass cloth I got from work (didn't work so well, it left a lot of bubbles) so I continued on with the mat and laid 4 more plies down... total of 6.

It came out pretty well, I have the baffles built at work so hopefully next week I can get all of this finished. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

happy new!looking fukkn good!
Thanks bro

looking good man, u need to get a screen in the dash now lol
Yeah I thought about screens but to me it's just something else that people want to steal out of your car... and my Pioneer works just fine for now //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

looks like its going nicely, but i have a question....i was just wonder why are you putting you pod so high in the door...do you not like the ones that have this shape.

I've seen a lot of people with those kind, I wanted to do something a little different. Plus, I needed to cover up that stock tweet grille that I won't be using. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

The actual speaker is still gonna be pretty low in the door.

thats right i forgot about that tweet...

this is unrelated to your build but are you going to throw a wood wheel in that lac...i might be changing the one from my eldog out and its a direct factory fit and the same color....if you're interested let me know and we can talk about it.

Hmm I kinda like the look of the stock wheel and the idea of having an airbag... but if you have some pics I will look at them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Made a little progress on the door pods today.

I trimmed/ported/test fit the glass backplate, bored out the speaker holes in the baffles, and rounded the edges. The woofer and tweeter are flush mounted, although the tweet hole needs a little bit more diameter on it which I will do tomorrow. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Back with some progress here. I decided to mount the tweets on the A-pillar instead of with the midbass because it sounded like crap in my car...

I ground the baffles down to rings and got them properly imaged today, mounted them with dowels, wrapped them in fleece and proceeded to slather them with resin //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

They look great so far... tomorrow I will grind off the excess fleece at work and proceed to bodyworking these bad boys... I also still need to cut the hole in my door panel. So here's what I got so far...

The pods set up for wrapping... Looks a little strange now but stay tuned //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Don't look at the backside... needs a lot of bodywork //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Lovin the build. Forgot you cut the rear deck, Was it worth it? Ive thought about it a few times, But dont know if ill gain anything, as ill already have 2 4x10" speaker holes venting trunk to cabin.
