92' civic. door speaker question.

anyone that has done an install on one fill me in. i have a 92' civic sedan. took out the blown bazooka speakers that previous owner had in there and went to put my momo 6.5"s in and well they are too big in two ways. deep and diameter. please let me know what i need exactly because i dont want to buy on a guess and it not work out. thanks guys.

Is the driver on the speakers too big? If not most likely some 1" spacers should do the trick.

just take a dremel to the back of the stock basket....will allow you to go deeper...watch for the window though..and you have 5 1/4" speakers in the doors...

glad i'm buying some new doorpanels from the junkyard and fg 3 6.5's in each door...no more worrying bout those stupid baskets...

they will be too deep then. and my car has 6.5's in there but the momo is 6.75 and depth is also an issue. i tried to see about putting 5.25 rf fanatic x mids in but they are not big enuff diameter wise and also they would be too deep.

ok....see the black plastic basket behind where you mount the speaker.....YOU HAVE TO CUT THAT ALMOST COMPLETELY OUT TO MOUNT THE SPEAKER IN THERE....BUT YOU WILL HAVE A PROBLEM WITH WINDOW HITTING IT WHEN ROLLED DOWN.....

yea i dont want the window hitting the speakers.

if they are too big then they arent 6.5" they are 6.75" they arent going to fit...you need 6.5" speakers...

if you take the plastic piece out....no matter the speaker is going to be hit by the window.....you need shallow speakers....

X2 I had a 1996 Honda civic and had to dremel that out its easy and simple to do but i did not have any problem with the window hitting them I dont knwo why you would.

96 is a different model...you have an EK civic..he has a 92 EG civic...completely different designs....
