So, you called alpine, and they recommended a box size to you, and you want to know if its right?

Why else would they recommend it?

is that whole QTC thing only for sealed? or does it apply to ported, because ported boxes are generally larger so shoudlnt they create a really high QTC?

While ported boxes aren't "rated" by Qtc, they are a high Q alignment. "Q", or "quality", is essentially just a measure of resistance to oscillation/damping. And ported boxes are underdamped (high Q) systems.
