800watts Per Sub, 8Ga or 12Ga wire?

Ok heres the thing. I have 2 Diamond Audio D612D4s. I plan on running 600-800Watts per sub. Tommorrow I would like to try giving them 300watts per sub while I wait for my sub amp

Now the subwoofer terminals accept 8ga wire just fine. But thats just it. 8ga only. I'm planning on wiring each down to 2ohms. Hook that up to the terminal cup and then wire from the outside down to 1ohm. Problem is I cant fit two sections of 8ga into the subwoofer termianls.

Now technically going by the "wire guide" I'm still in the clear with 12ga as each voice coil will be getting 400watts. But i'd prefer to use larger wire just in case.

So what would you do. Use 12ga and be done with it. Or get 4ga > 8ga reducer, Shove 2 8ga wires in the 4ga side, and the 8ga side goes to the wiring terminal.

Get 3 pairs of those. I use those with 8 gauge for 800watts, works great. Makes for easy disconnects. You stick one plug in the speaker terminal and another in the back of that plug.

nooooo You're supposed to say you need 2/0ga to each voice coil, and 6/0 to the amp

I'll consider the banana plugs. Also looking at the Stinger reducer on fleabay

The banana plugs are cheaper (14 shipped for 4 vs 24 shipped for the reducers)

question, I seem to recall someone saying theres a difference between power wire and speaker wire, is there? I can't remember but it is nagging me.

There is no difference, especially if you're using the wire for subs.

12ga will be fine. but im using dual runs if 14 GA for each lead, in my setup.

Hifonics ZXi 6006

Got it reaaall cheap ($115 NEW) through a friend who owes me. I plan on using it to run my future components. but for the time being, I want to try them on the subs if possible. Will only be getting 300watts @ 2ohms per sub. So they will be underpowered but it should only be for a week or two. If they sound terrible I'll go back to the single 12" JL 12W04 Sub I have to tide me over.

as for the sub amp. I was thinking of sticking with hifonics and going for the Hifonics BXi 1606D. Sure they're overrated. But it's unlikely that the amp wont put out at least 1000 watts @ 1ohms. Plus I get it cheap through my friend.

Asthetics do matter to me, I'd like to a do a clean nice looking install. So i'm taking my time. I ran 2 runs of 16ga wire to my passenger door yesterday. Hopefully I can do the drivers door soon. In about two weeks I'll either get the brutus amp, or a set of components.
