8 ga speaker wires, how to do terminal

well, buliding a new box, and decided i'm gonna use some of my spare crap Raptor 8ga as the speaker wire for my L7. I have the terminal I want to use, but it uses the spade terminals(i know that's wrong, they go over the spade part) inside the box, and there ain't no way 8ga will fit into those connectors tightly. You know the ones i'm talking about, the ones with the blue plastic on them where you'd crimp down.

So, what's everyone done? I found a burnt section of wire when I used 12ga, so I want to step it up. I thought soldering, but my soldering gun brings teh ****. I didn't drill the hole for the terminal yet, will be tomorrow. Should I just drill two small holes where the 8ga will fit through real snug, so no air can come out of there. It's for a ported box FYI. Don't have time to search right now, and need to know by the morning. Will search later, but I know this is when a lot of people surf on here

thanks

2 holes with silicone works great...that's what I did with my old box, new one I just run the 8ga right out the side port lol.

Terminal cups just don't work for anything larger then 12ga, even that i always feel like it's putting in a lot of resistance.

You could use these binding posts:

And replace the solder ring terminal with a crimp-on ring terminal:

On the outside of the box, the terminals accept bare wire or banana plugs.
