A kid i met in english is selling his 12' Orion HCCA sub. He wants 350 for it but i plan on offering like 300 if its worth it. I am also buying a MTX 81000d from my dad for about 200 bucks. Do these sound like good deals? Are they compatible to get the most out of both of them for the price? Also, any idea on how much louder/better it will be than my 12" memphis PR on a JBL 600 watt amp in a 2 cu ft ported enclosure? Sorry for so many questions, TIA

is it the new version of the hcca ? dual 4 or dual 2 ? makes a difference on its used price. Also, new they're going for like $430, so depeneding how banged up his is, the price might be accurate.

The newer ones have orange baskets and silver cones right? Sorry but im unfamiliar with orion drivers. He is supposed to find out what the vc config is for me by our next class. Would the MTX even be worth it. Supposedly these orions can easily take 2000w rms. and obviously the mtx isnt touching that. What vc config would be optimal for my setup? thanks

Well, they're red and have the silver cones...but that MTX amp is an ok place to start out with to power it, but it really needs a solid 2kw of power at the least to get it moving. My team mate has 6 of the 15" versions, so im quite aquainted with the new HCCA line now. Id seriously suggest the dual 2 ohm versions (and I guess if all fails, you can just buy whatever that guy has and replace the coil yourself since the new HCCA's have self replaceable soft parts).

also, I didnt realize your name until just now....Rolling Thunder.... a bunch of your guys parked next to my team at the last Freeman lake MECA spl event. Plus I see some of your guys rides on base here at Fort Knox alot.

Thanks for all the help snoop. Im pretty excited about buying it. He did a demo for me of it in his civic with a RF T40001bd and it sounded pretty intense, def a step up from my memphis pr. So will i be dissatisfied with my amp/sub combo, or does it just have a lot more potential than what it will be giving me? If the amp would more effectively power less power hungry subs, i will go that route, but if this is a deal, id rather get it now and figure out better power later. TIA

oh it just will have a bit more potential in the sub, thats all. The MTX 81000d will be a great start, maybe later on you can grab another one and run one amp per coil ?

and if ya ever need any help, im local.

That sounds pretty awesome, i never thought of just picking up another, they are for sale pretty often. Def need to boost my electrical though, heard one of em can be pretty hard on stock wiring. Thanks for all the help. I would love to get metered one day just to see where im at now, not exactly a competitor by any means but im curious as to what numbers translate to in real life. Kknow of any good box builders in the area? Have a feeling the orion will need to breathe better than my box will allow.
