6 x 9 installation

I have a 2000 neon, and I'm trying to install 6 x 9 speakers for the back. the problem I'm having is that the panel in the back, covering the existing speakers wont come off, and I can't get to the existing speakers unless I take that off. does anybody have any ideas?

not familiar with neons... but, are the speakers accessible through the trunk?

if that does not help and no one can help you here... call your local neon dealer (the service dept) and they should be able to give you the advise you need.
