2000 1st Gen Honda CRV Headunit Installation Issues

renderTimingPixel.png

I will attempt to keep this as short and to the point as possible... I NEED HELP this is driving me crazy hahah

Here is the headunit that I bought for a 2000 1st Gen Honda-CRV: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CLD2P6Q3/?tag=caraudiocom-20

Here are my issues...

1:
The headunit came with a prewired harness that fits the existing car connection BUT.... when I connect it to the car nothing happens. It wont turn on. This should be simple plug and play, am I wrong to think this?

2: Because the pre wired harness was not working I bought a wiring harness compatible with a 2000 Honda CRV and snipped the prewired harness and then rewired as followed in an effort to troubleshoot:
Here is the harness I bought: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004W34BOW/?tag=caraudiocom-20
Yellow = 12v constant power
Black = GND
Red = Ignition
and then the remaining speaker wires to the correct corresponding wires on the harness....
After all this STILL NOTHING....it wont turn on.

3:
This is more of a question than an issue but the black GND wire is split (I havent seen this before) one side of the wire is thicker than the other and that is what I used to connect to the harness, the other thinner end of the black wire I capped off. What does this mean? Anyone know why it is split? Could this be a reason why its not working?

Any help or guidance with this is GREATLY APPRECIATED I need to get this to work ASAP. The only thing I havent done is check connections with a multimeter, I plan on doing this....

THANK YOU ALL!!!!! SO SO SO SO MUCH!!!!!!!

Twist both grounds together. Good call on checking power with a multimeter. I assume you have pulled out and re-inserted the fuses, so as a quick test, connect the radio direct to the battery. Both Red and Yellow twisted together. Make sure all other wires are not exposed.

Why? Because of the owner? The cheaper won't be as clean as the SIA.
