6.5" sub question...

Okay, I'm putting together a nice budget SQ setup consisting of Dayton Reference 8" midbass's in the front doors along with Dayton tweeters. The problem I am having is that I have an option to put 2 12" Eclipse subs or run 6.5" subs infinite baffle in the rear deck. I would rather not run a box in my trunk if I don't have to. I've searched for reviews of each 6.5" sub that I am questioning (Tang Band W6, and ED Eu-700s) and I have gotten mixed reviews of each. For those that have heard either, do you think any of these as a pair would sound similar to a single 10" if they are given the proper RMS power and run infinite baffle? From the reviews, they don't seem to hit the really low lows. Also, Tang Bands specs don't seem to favor an infinite baffle setup.

single 10" in a good box will crush 6.5" sub especially infinite baffle...

but in your case I would do 1or2 8", they require very little space and sound very good

how many are you planning on running?

2 of them infinite baffle in the rear deck.

What if an enclosure was built for them under the rear deck? I recall someone running (I believe it was flakko) an Eu-700 in a .15 cu. ft. box and it pounded pretty nice. I'm not trying to achieve an insane amount of bass, but I would like to hear and feel each frequency. The way I'm thinking, 2 6.5" subs should be able to displace the same amount of air as a single 10" sub.

I'm trying to achieve an OEM looking, but great sounding system. I'm open to any suggestions.

*SQBubble, thanks for that link. I'm considering 8's but they will be a bit more effort to fit into my rear deck. It can be done if need be though.

what kind of car? I was in the middle of an dayton rs system when I changed my mind. was going to run 6 high in the door and 8s low with aura tweets. I was also thinking of doing the 8s in the rear deck. After doing some research I decided to keep my Arc 12 in a 1cf sealed box.small footprint so I didnt lose much room. I would like to know what 8s would move as much air as 1 12. The 8s I was looking into were the tangs and JL 8s.

This is going in a 96' Maxima. For 8s, the ED 9kv.2s are a great sub as I have heard them before. That's only if you don't mind dealing with Ben. I've heard nothing but good things about the Tang Band 8s as well, but I'm worried about the paper cone/foam surround not lasting too long in my rear deck. I'm thinking about ordering a set of Eu-700s just to try out. If I don't like them, I'll sell them and get The Tang Band 6.5s. And if I don't like those, I'll just get 12s. These drivers are cheap enough to experiment with for a while. I can get Eclipse Alum. 12s in a pre made enclosure from Eclipse for $200.
