4x6" Speaker upgrade

In a 2001 Cavalier Coupe the stock speakers are 4x6 in the front and 6x9 in the back. I want to stick with stock in the back so 6x9s there. In the front though I want to get bigger speakers. What is the biggest i can fit in a 4x6" hole. Are there any kits to help make a larger speaker fit?

Sky is the limit really. I have a 1995 which I think is the same basic model and we put adapters off of E-Bay and slammed some 6.5's in there. They may even measure close to 6.75" and if you use the right MDF spacer maybe larger. Window is not far behind though so you could run into an issue of hitting it if not spaced right. I don't think we had much play there. We also went back with 6x9's bottom mounted but they hit on the rods just a smidge. You won't get them in from the top because they are not true 6x9 openings where the magnet will pass through. This is of course if your car is like ours!
