How are the Kicker SS comps?

do they get LOUD and sound good?

i was originally going to get another set of boston pro 60s, but they are a 3ohm set, and i want to bridge the front and back speakers on my 8002, its they way i have it now with the stock speakers, so i was going to get a nice set of components up front and a lesser set or a set of coaxs for the rear, i ride around with passengers a good bit and want sound in the back

the 8002 is only 2ohm stable in 2ch mode, and a 3ohm speaker mixed with 4ohm would be ~1.7ohms, and the amp is already mounted in a enclosed space, so it can get hot easy, so dont know if i want to do that, but 1.7 is really no difference than 2ohms

so a set of pro 60s+?

set of kicker SS + ?

kicker RS

Crystal comps

or has anyone used the new JBL GTi components, these mids look nice

i just want a nice set, dont know which one im going for yet, i loved the pros when i had them, so i might just go that route again

Can't comment on the cyrstal's or the pro60's but I have the SS's and have heard the RS's. The SS's sound amazing. Not too harsh, great response and midbass, one of the best speakers I have heard. The RS's were nice speakers too, but the SS's are a big step up IMO.

only thing i dont like about them, the tweet looks crazy big, i dont want that to become a problem if i try to mount it

Well when I use to sell the Kicker SS's I was extremley happy with the sound reproduction. Never owned a pair but they were great and able to get very loud.

But like you stated on of the flaws is that huge as tweeter.

Friend of mine has them installed in factory locations, mid in door panel and tweet on a pillar. They sound very nice, like the tweeter, but his midbass is lacking-however, I think that's just how he tuned them.

i did in my blazer they went when i sold it, thats why im thinking of going back with them, i liked the way they sounded, the info on them is in the 1st post about bridging front and back

so comes down to probably pro 60s or kicker SS, but that JBL set does look nice

im thinking of talking to joe hemi, and maybe buying his SS comps if i can get him down some more

dont know about that tweeter depth though and if they get loud

and how about those new pioneer 720 comps, only 50rms, but i heard they can take more, im just wondering if they will be loud enough

I have my prs's on 100rms and they rock pretty good. they are not harsh at all. not quite mellow when cranking them but very good. would reccomend them fully. Joehemi's price is good on the ss's and thats a good deal too.

actually, even tho it's larger, the 30mm tweeter actually helps staging/widens the range, broader...

I can't speak on the other's, but if you want A LOT of midbass and a smooth tweet, go with the SSCS6's. Make sure you deaden your door WELL and run A LOT of power to them (200w a side), but cross them around 100hz.
