4ohm to 2ohm part 2

well yesterday i decided that it was time to get rid of those peice of sh!t subs i had that were only receiving 200 rms...they were audiocrap...i mean bahn. i went under my warrenty and got me the kicker L5 12'' with the ported box..i must say i am amazed....however i have a new issue. when i had the audiobahns i had the amps gain all the way and thesub controll all the way too. so yesterday i saw the new kicker says 600rms but the guy said it was ok to give it 800rms and there you go the sub gave that good ole burnt smell. not only that my fuse on the power cable to the amp blew. so heres my qustion. if i lower the gain on the amp could i still be able to give it 800rms. what do u guys think is the best way of wiring for the best spl...heres some spec.

200rms x2 @ 4ohm

400rms x2 @ 2 ohm

800rms x1 @ 2ohm

not sure on the specs but it said it can be droped to 2 ohm

the gain isnt used for an output guage... just because your gain is all the way down, doesn't mean your amp isn't putting out it's power... you should set the gain to match the output voltage from your head unit... gain all the way up = bad and blown everything.. READ THE GAIN SETTING TUTORIAL!!! with your gain accurately set, your amp will be putting out around 800rms

As said; read the gain setting tutorial and properly set your gain.

It looks like you messed up again. Sounds like you have a dual 4 ohm kicker. Now you only have the option to get 400 watts. That amp is anly bridgable @ 4ohms not 2ohms.

So you would have to hook up the speaker to one channel like this

Use the 2ohms wiring option.

Do not, I repeat do not bridge the amp @ 2ohms.

And having the gain and boost all the way up is a bad idea. It is not a volume control and you don't need to use the boost.

Go to this thread and do exactly what it says to do. Now you are only going to get 400 watts on one channel but it is your only option.
