4inch to 6.5inch speakers?

So I think I might get a toyota paseo. It was 6.5 speakers in the rear but in the front it only has 4inch speakers.

I plan to get 6.5's for the front and have the hole cut to make them fit. But being the jump is so big, what should I look out for? Is it smarter to maybe go with 5.25's? Is it possibly I might not be able to make them fit?

depth. that is your concern. you'll want a shallow speaker, or measure available depth.

space. the metal will likely not be flat for the new hole. you will need to account for this. closed cell neoprene weatherstripping can help make a seal on uneven surfaces.

grill. the factory grill will be too small. you will want to modify the panel

Will probably have to open up the sheet metal some and probably cut out the grill on the door panel. Then use the grills that come with your coax's/comps and mount that to the door panel.

if depth is an issue, which is was like in my malibu (4x6 speakers), you just need to add a little to the door. Fast and easy to make some adapters out of wood:

Thanks! I'm trying to figure out how much of a process this will be. I had 4inch speakers in my last car and having almost no mid bass ******.

you'll definitely see some improvements with mid bass by upgrading to 6.5's, but deadening your doors is a huge plus as well

Yeah if I have the $ I'll try to deaden the doors.

There might be hope to fit in 5.25inch speakers but ive only heard it from a few toyota owners.
