4 Type-R or 1 W7

Alright...i know that this may sound a lil crazy and all...but im stuck on what to do?

I either want 4 12" type-r's or 1 jl w7 13". I do not want to go above a 1000 watt amp, so i would put the jl 1001/1 on the w7 or the m1000 on the alpines(i know that would be underpowering them a bit). Ne reccomendations? I am set on either of these, and really do not want nehting else. The alpines could get as much as a 6.5 cf for all 4, and i want the w7 to be in the reccomended vented enclosure to jl specs. I was just wondering how the two setups would compare?

Personally I would take the W7. Better SQ and will get plenty loud.

Totally depends on what you want...the alpines would no doubt get louder (unless they were installed horribly and the W7 perfectly), but the W7 would sound quite a bit cleaner.

A 13 W7 is, I believe and correct me someone if I'm mistaken, 14.25" or the same size approx as a normal 15. Comparing that to my 15, I would comfortably say that you don't need any more loudness than that if you're not planning on competing.

On the other hand, 4 12's might be cool to have, your call....SPL or SQ

go with the 4 12's i had six and it was crazy. You should maybe consider getting a better amp tho if you go with them. BTW i have 4 12's alpine type r's for sale so if you havent bought them yet let me know and maybe we could work somehting out.....

Well i wanted to stay with a 1000 watts cuz i dont want to do nethin wit my electrical stsyem besides maybe a yellow top battery and the big 3. Would 6.5 fc for all 4 subs sealed be alright? What are the reccomendations?

I got 4 12" Type R's... and I would say you would need at least a 1500WRMS amp to power them properly, and you shouldn't have any problems with your electrical system with 1500WRMS. Just do the big three upgrade and get a Yellow Top. Either way the W7 or the 4 Type R's you can't go wrong.

I am thinking 6.5 feet cubed for 4 type r's sealed is a lil big. Alpine recommends .7 to 1 foot cubed for each sub sealed. I also think you will need to give each type r at least 300 watts rms to get close to their potential in a sealed box. I have 2 type r 12's in a 1 foot sealed box with 300 watts going to each and i love it. Its a lil on the boomy side which is what i like and gets plenty loud for me and has great sq. Like i said if each sub is sealed with more than a foot cubed then i think it will sound very boomy but what do i know....

alpine 9815, what kinda truck do u have? i have a 2001 chevy blazer xtreme...so does everyone agree here that if i go to even about 1200 watts my electrical system should be alright with the big 3 and a yellow top battery? and for my box, maybe should i look into a smaller box? do the subs each need their seperate chamber, or can i just throw 4 into the entire box without sealing off diffeerent chambers. How big of a box do u think i should go...i want to stay sealed.
