2ohm vs 4ohm

They are different impedances (resistances). At a lower impedance an amp produces more power, but not all amps can run stably at lower impedances. Some can run at 1 ohm all day, while others fry themselves at 2 ohms. The primary reason they make voice coils with different impedances is so you can match them up with different amplifiers easier.

Hopefully I did a decent job at explaining it. Some one else might be able to do a better job though.

 
Just a note: Not all amplifiers are capable of producing more power at lower impedances ...
If there's a small or no difference in maximum continuous power output between 2 and 4 ohms, always choose 4 ohms. Your amplifier will run cooler and longer, plus you can use a smaller wire gauge ...
