2nd System, looking for advice

Hello, I'm new around here just joined the forum.

I am currently starting to purchase components for my 2nd system install. Previously I had done my ford ranger, currently I am installing in an 08 Chevy Colorado Crew Cab w/ tweeters. I had problems with my last install, the amp would over heat now and then in hot weather and I do not want that to be an issue again. For that reason I am selecting amps I feel meet or exceed maximum requirements.

I am here because I havent done a system of this scale before and I would like second opinions on the equipment I am purchasing and to see if there is anything I left out. I have listed every component I have and will be buying at this point. To my knowledge I feel I have found everything I need and nothing else will be required.

So far I have installed a Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD with GMOS to retain Onstar and door chimes.

So far my setup consists of:

Headunit: Pioneer AVH-P1400DVD (installed)

SpeakersF: Alpine 610C Component in front (ordered)

SpeakersR: Alpine 610 Coaxial in rear (ordered)

SpeakerAmp: Pioneer GM-58604 for speakers (not ordered)

Subwoofer: ebay under rear seat box, 2x Kicker 40CWRT82 (not ordered)

SubwooferAmp: Pioneer GM-D9601 (not ordered)

SubAmp wiring kit: Bullz 8ga

SpeakAmp wiring kit: IMC 10ga x2 (only come with 1 RCA, so cheap might as well buy another whole kit just for the RCA, I can use the extra 10ga to wire from my amp to my sub.)

Speaker Wire: 14ga 2 conductor

Offsite links/More info: Sorry but this forum wont let new members post links, replace "DOT" with "."

Rear Speakers: crutchfieldDOTcom/p_500SPS610/Alpine-SPS-610.html

Speakers Amp: crutchfieldDOTcom/p_130GMD8604/Pioneer-GM-D8604.html?tp=35782

Speaker Wire: ebayDOTcom/itm/100-FT-14-AWG-GAUGE-SPEAKER-WIRE-RED-BLACK-/230850654250

My main concerns:

1. My front component speakers say they have built in crossovers. Are these junk, do I need active crossovers?

2. Also do I just splice the connection from the speaker to the tweeter since they have "Built-in Crossovers"?

3. Is the equipment I have selected of good quality and meant to jive with each other?

4. How much heat will my amps put off? I am worried about melting or burning carpet, the first time my old amp over heated I couldn't even touch it from how hot it had gotten.

5. Can I use the 10ga cable from my extra wiring kit to use as signal wire from amplifier TO subwoofer? Or is that too small?

6. Everything looks like it should work together and is good quality?

Thanks in advance for any helpful/insightful comments!

dude you need help here .the whole system isn't worth the cash you'll shell out .ok the alpines speakers are not that good ,mediocre at best .the pioneer amp are also junk ,as well as the bullz wire the deck is an entry level dvd deck with 2 volt preouts as well.and the kicker subs ,ok at best . you can have better for the money . what are you trying to get from the new system? can you build a box if you have plans ? do you know how to install the system ?what kind of music do you listen to ? and how much room do you have to work with ? budget ?

I am shocked, I've read stellar reviews on all the hardware and I've done the math, the watts at ohmage all meet the demand, pioneer is name brand I figured I was way better off than MTX or ebay specials.

Basically just want an all around good system with some nice bass for when I need it. Yeah I can build a box, Im a metal fabricator by trade so I'm good with tools and have experience working with wood (thats what she said)

I've done alot of research and feel entirely confident with installing my self. My last setup was a 10" kicker sub, 4 channel kicker amp, 2 new kenwood speakers up front and a kenwood deck. Did all that myself, along with an engine swap, different seating setup and new carpet.

I listen to rock & electronica mostly. anything from Queen to Daft Punk, The Eagles, Avenged Sevenfold, System of a Down

Room? As in vehicle space? I want to keep my back seat 100% usable. Thats why I choose that sub box, meant to fit under my seat, not alot of space down there. I figured I could cut out some of the plastic paneling from behind the rear seats to mount my amps under the rear windshield and be hidden by the seats. Not enough room under driver/passenger seats for the slimmest of amps.

I calculated $1400 total cost on all the equipment listed above. Dont want to break that, I already ordered the speakers (they arrive tomorrow) and I have already installed my head unit with GMOS. I am still shocked to hear these Alpine speakers and Pioneer $250 headunit are crap.

how is the AVH-P4100DVD the same as the AVH-P1400DVD? but my lows10 is right. you could get a way better system for the money you're spending.
Oh my mistake..

So what do I look for? I was kind of stuck with those subs because they were what came with the box that would fit. I choose Pioneer amps because it was the cheapest big brand name for appropriate power. I choose the avh-p1400dvd because all the reviews were awesome for it. Same goes for the alpine hardly any bad notes to be found anywhere about them.

I really need some guidance here apparently.

Just a heads up... Those kicker 10" truck boxes sound like TURD !!! My buddy was running 1 of those in his truck for all of about 10 minutes & then we ended up building an enclosure for a crappy old single Pioneer champion 12" just becuse I had it collecting dust and it blew that kicker out of the water, no comparison what so ever, I mean it wasn't even close at all... So that being said, it would not take much at all to surpass that kicker you were planning on buying with just about anything else with the properly built enclosure //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif
