If i got a 2nd battery and had it in the engine bay, ran a cable from the alt + to battery + and battery- to first batteries ground, and ran a cable from the new battery to my amps, i woulndt need a battery isolator, right? Cause the batteries wouldnt be connected...

They're still connected.

Only reason you'll need an isolator is if you plan to play with the system off so you don't kill your starting battery.

Stick with the "normal" wiring and do battery to battery.

to pos alt to batt 1 to batt 2. do neg alt to batt 1 to batt 2. then do amp off either battery. and there is no need for an isolator.
im a litte confused... doesnt the negative alt ground? Or would it just be using the battery1 ground?

would i really gain that much by keeping my stock battery and adding a 2nd? Should i just replace the battery i have?
