2500d and 13w7 help

ok i just got finished installing my orion 2500d amp and my jl 13w7 sub. i turn my car on accessory just to test everything and i start fooling with my gains and settings (mind you i'm not cranking anything) and the sub is barely getting any power to it. it's barely moving. i can feel it slightly moving and barely audible bass. the 2 vc configs i can have is either 3ohms or .75 iirc. either way the sub should be wanging my balls off. can anyone help me with how i'm supposed to have the amp settings?

turn the gain up slowly. maybe ur amp is blown..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif we could only guess because u need to go through the trouble shooting urself. check power ground remote rca cables not touching. its probably something small..//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

well i went out to my car and the power light on the amp was still on. my keys weren't in the ignition either. so i popped the breaker and pulled out the voltage wire for the distro block (it has an led display for voltage) and i didn't bother turning it on again cuz i don't wanna risk damaging anything. but i did set all my eq on the hu to zero and loudness off and turned up the gains and still no audible difference. it still outputs, just hardly audible. my only other question is does polarity of the wires make a difference?? cuz i'm not gonna pull my sub out to check the wiring when i can just swap the wires at the amp. ugh. i'm getting fed up!!

is it possible that you have the vc's wired out of phase?

i did that on my mom's idq and it was not moving.

pulled the wire off one vc and it started wanging away.

maybe just hook one vc up to the amp and see if it works then.

if that works then try the other one by its self.

if they both check out they were probably wired out of phase with each other.

the sub i bought used from this guy and it was wanging away on my coworker's kicker amp. i haven't touched the vc config since i got it. it's wired at 3 ohms. i had it hoooked up with the pos and neg wires switched and it was barely moving but as soon as i pulled the dblock wire outta the amp, it never came on again. is it possible to fry the remote terminal on an amp? i'm not about to pull a 60+ lb sub out of a 20-30 lb box. it was a ***** to get in in the first place!!

ok well i just got back and i had the rem hooked up to the power antenna lead. so i got that wired and now the amp powers on. but now the sub isn't wanging anywhere near what it should i turn the gains up all the way briefly and it's decent but not like it should be. i have the gain switch set to gain (other options are master, copy for strapping amps).

then, i have the gain turned up about halfway. (nothing audible til about halfway up). the low pass filter is set to full (other options are 12, 24) and i have the frequency set kinda low so as to not damage anything til i get it figured out.

the hpf is set to off (other than on) and the setting is all the way down.

the intelli q is set to 0 (bass boost basically).

the phase switch is set to 0 (other than 180).

my wiring is 4 gauge from battery to distro block with 200amp breaker.

from fused distro (2 150A anl fuses), i have 2 runs of 4 gauge to the amps power and ground terminals. so all 4 gauge wiring throughout.

the sub itself has 8 gauge wires to each vc. then i believe 14 or 16 gauge wire to the amp's terminals (speaker wire). rem turn-on is very small wire (knukonceptz rca wiring kit w/rem wire).

i had the eq set to flat and loud turned off on the headunit and i had it up to about volume 26 and this sub is barely moving (wired to 3ohms off an orion 2500d, so ~1400rms to the sub and recommended is ~1000rms to 13w7). any reason why this sub isn't wanging like it should?

*edit* also, everytime i touch the headunit, i can hear some kind of low poppy-ish sound from the sub like the headunit is interfering with the sub. it does it when i press the buttons to change stations and turn up the volume. but i have a remote i can use for the hu..

Do you have both runs of 4 guage to the amp and both runs of 4 guage from the amp to the chassis??? Check the VAC of the amp with a digital mulitimeter, search on how to if you dont know. See what the dmm says should read 50 VAC for the 2500D @1ohm. If you dont get that high of a reading send it back to have it fixed. I think mine went well over 100 Vac but I cant remember.

yes i have dual runs of 4 gauge to the ground and power. and i'm runnning it at 3ohms (~1400rms is what i SHOULD be getting) and i don't have a dmm available to me right now.
Id def check it with a dmm to see if it is blown or if there is something wrong with it.

so i checked the amp the other day after getting a working dmm and with gains maxed out it only reads like 4v AC. but i didn't have a test tone cd to use cuz my cd player doesn't play cd's. now i don't have a deck at all since i'm just waiting to buy one now. in the meantime anyone have any ideas why the amp is putting out such low readings? and yes i had the engine running.

I just installed my amp, and after hours of installing I turned it on and all I got was a red light from the amp's power light and nothing at all from the subs. I was wondering, is the amp light supposed to be red or is it supposed to be green?
