and the hu's pre-out voltage is only 2v.
lol, there you go. Get a line driver. Then you're amp will be much much happier.

red means its on //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gifI just installed my amp, and after hours of installing I turned it on and all I got was a red light from the amp's power light and nothing at all from the subs. I was wondering, is the amp light supposed to be red or is it supposed to be green?
The noises are because you have the gain up so high... its something you'll just have to deal with. Being able to hear those sounds indicates the amp is probably working fine.ok well i just got back and i had the rem hooked up to the power antenna lead. so i got that wired and now the amp powers on. but now the sub isn't wanging anywhere near what it should i turn the gains up all the way briefly and it's decent but not like it should be. i have the gain switch set to gain (other options are master, copy for strapping amps).
then, i have the gain turned up about halfway. (nothing audible til about halfway up). the low pass filter is set to full (other options are 12, 24) and i have the frequency set kinda low so as to not damage anything til i get it figured out.
the hpf is set to off (other than on) and the setting is all the way down.
the intelli q is set to 0 (bass boost basically).
the phase switch is set to 0 (other than 180).
my wiring is 4 gauge from battery to distro block with 200amp breaker.
from fused distro (2 150A anl fuses), i have 2 runs of 4 gauge to the amps power and ground terminals. so all 4 gauge wiring throughout.
the sub itself has 8 gauge wires to each vc. then i believe 14 or 16 gauge wire to the amp's terminals (speaker wire). rem turn-on is very small wire (knukonceptz rca wiring kit w/rem wire).
i had the eq set to flat and loud turned off on the headunit and i had it up to about volume 26 and this sub is barely moving (wired to 3ohms off an orion 2500d, so ~1400rms to the sub and recommended is ~1000rms to 13w7). any reason why this sub isn't wanging like it should?
*edit* also, everytime i touch the headunit, i can hear some kind of low poppy-ish sound from the sub like the headunit is interfering with the sub. it does it when i press the buttons to change stations and turn up the volume. but i have a remote i can use for the hu..
well as of now i don't have a headunit and i've been searching for one cuz it keeps ejecting my cds anyways. i have a deal coming through hopefully. but i need a hu to check anything else out on the amp.The noises are because you have the gain up so high... its something you'll just have to deal with. 4v doesnt sound right... i'd say something was wrong with your DMM, or you didnt have that setup properly.
it coudl be a head unit issue... you can try turning up the sub level on the deck, if it even has a sub level. It sounds like you just cant get enough input voltage to the amp, it happens.
New deck may solve some problems, I'd get a new one anyway.. that one you have now isn't up to par... at least get something with a set of sub outputs.
