Amp cuts out at high frequencies

I just installed a set of rainbow slc components and a diamond d3-400.4 amp. I'm just running off of two channels now and i'm not bridged. I've just been messing around with the non-advanced mode of my eclipse 8445 and noticed if i raise the treble above 2 or 3, my front end cuts out completely. It seems to me like a thermal problem because it'll cut in and out periodically if i leave it. I'm not really at a high volume and if i lower the treble, I can raise the volume signifigantly without anything cutting out. My gain isn't set very high at all either. Anyone have any ideas??

It's probably not your amp. IIRC the SLC's have tweeter protection in the x-overs that kick in when too much juice is getting sent to the tweeters. Since you say your gains aren't set very high I am assuming that you arent sending a clipped signal to them.

A good break in might help your problem too.

thanks for the tip. I was leaning towards the crossover protection as well. In any matter-i dropped the gain a little and haven't seen the problem since.
