I haven't paid attention enough to know your tuning but with the wattage you have and 2 15's you're gonna get metal fatigue. Those round ports look long enough to hit some lows haha

Hell yeah. It's tuned to 28. I wanted it to play music flat and low

Last guy with a Sienna on this board who posted about his basshead build had 4-18s on 15k I believe. He was replacing windshields weekly because of the flex. You at this point seem to have the bases covered, so did I until my upper hatch pins walked out at regionals during a street beat run and that was on a single sub build. Those DB9515s are no joke and an 8K per sounds about right to me even though your enclosure screams low port area to me. No shade thrown man... I'm sure it'll dig hard but ultimate output may be limited with 3 6" ports.

Sounds right. I didn't even plan to wood panel my roof over until I got the system in and started bumping it, and it broke all kinds of things lol. I can see why his windshields were breaking - 4 18's is much more cone area, and I didn't even fully use one 8k before it was an issue, so he had over double the power. Did he have a stripper pole?

Potentially. You are correct, it's small for the amount of power I'm using. Winisd modeling (which we both know is just a guess) says I won't have port velocity issues until 10 kW if I remember right (that's real or clamped power). I forget the exacts because I did the modeling awhile ago. I was trying to maximize my space, which isn't much, and I wound up on the 2 15's. Increasing the port area greatly increases the gross enclosure volume. I think I picked it over 1 18 or even 1 15 just because having the 2 gives me more power handling because 2 coils. I think for music, having the better power handling is better, just because you spend less time at the max. Hopefully I picked right.

I had to balance it with the tuning also. I wanted 30 or less, wound up on 28, and you know with big port area and low tuning the port length (and thus volume) is huge. I maybe could've gotten more port area if I went for high tuning, like 35.

Basically, I think my "low" port area + 2 15s is maximizing my airspace over something else.

But yes, good call. You know your shit. The ports are small but it's a trade-off I made to fit this shit into the trunk.

I was at a car meet today and pushed it too hard and blew it up. On my second SPL attempt, the left sub caught fire and someone hit it with a fire extinguisher

The flex was actually quite controlled. None of the panels were moving too bad, although the stripper pole is struggling to keep the windshield under control, and those rear windows that were an issue before still are. I actually had 2 people holding them during the run because I was worried they'd break.

For run 2, I also had a guy leaning against the trunk lid. Someone recommended it so I could gain a few tenths. The sub blew about 10 seconds into the run. I was over 149 at 37 hz, I might've been able to crack that 150 if it didn't let go, but alas

I got the car apart. Thankfully, both amps survived, and one of the subs survived. So I have to clean the fire extinguisher dust out of everything and recone one of the subs, and I'll be bangin again.

I also competed in 2 classes, both music. I got first place in one of them. It was pretty cool.

It was either clipping or over excursion that killed it I think. It failed suddenly so it wasn't slow heat build up that got it. It's possible the coil scraped the gap from over-excursion. I don't think I was clipping, but I wasn't running a clip monitor so I can't rule it out. I ordered a clip monitor for each amp just so I don't have to worry about it in the future.

I didn't find my peak frequency before the meet. I should've done that and brought a track just for it. It was my first time competing so I didn't really think about anything other than finishing the car before the meet lol

I did get to play around a bit and found the meter on the driver side with passenger door open did better

Any of you who've competed more think I can prep better and gain 1.6 dB to break 150?

NBAC. I competed in 2 classes, both 30 second music averages. One of them was the second lowest tier of modifications, just above trunk only. I fit into it because the only interior modification visible in my car is the pole. I have all my interior panels and headliner. That's the class I won, with 148.2 at 34 hz

The other class I took 2nd with 148.4 dB at 34 hz. That class was just a no-wall 0-531 sq in cone area (2 18s or less) class. Exposed panels and deadening allowed. I didnt see the car that beat me but he did a 153 so it must've been loud.

They also put the run where my sub blew on the leader board, which was hilarious. I got a 122

You were allowed to have people brace the car, so I had a couple people holding my rear windows. No one was on the trunk lid until the last one where it blew. So I might be able to gain a couple tenths there.

In both of those classes, you were allowed to get rid of your 3rd row seats, so I was at a big disadvantage lol. Frequency also didn't matter and I did my runs at 34. Obviously others did theirs higher, like 45- 50. But I didn't build this to compete at all, I just did it for fun.

How long did you get to cool off everything between runs? Fyi... I ALWAYS lost output on a immediate second run unless it was a different frequency closer to my cabin peak. Finding that frequency will be the path I'd think, And monitoring clipping. Some clipping is fine if kept in check, for music runs I'd be more careful than a burp too. In my case 30sec avgs on music were 149 and change, burping at peak was 152 plus consistently.

You'll get your number I bet... Test, test and test some more.
I spent a summer off grid in the Flagstaff area and it allowed me to test to my hearts content, I know it's probably not helpful but neighbors tend to object to loud noises. The squirrels didn't seem to care much... Lol

Not long. I did them back to back, except the last run. I gave a few demos and came back to the lane a couple hours later.

when I get everything cleaned and fixed, I'll play with it, see if I can squeeze a bit more out of it. I have an spl labs mini meter. After 148.4 on music, I'm confident I could burp over 150, but it'd be really cool to do 150 on music.
