2014 Honda CRV deck install--will it kill the screen/backup camera?

I wanted to install a double din but the concern was if I did the in-dash screen might just be a blank screen and the backup cam would no longer work when backing up.

I've no problem if it doesn't display song info, I just would like to keep the cam feature since I've jumped 2 gens on the CRV and would prefer to keep the function... and IMO it looks crappy to have a dead screen in the dash.

Googled around for a while with no luck. Asked the most reputable shop in town and they could never give me a straight answer. Finally called Crutchfield and they eventually got back to me saying that putting a deck in kills the screen functionality entirely including for backup cam.

So I ended up doing a line out converter and keeping the factory deck but it is miserable and I'd like to have a real deck... which brings me to now... is there any work around or did I just get bad information? Hoping someone on the forum has the same car or has done this install recently.

EDIT: THIS is the best source I've found but seems like there's lots of compromises... I'm hoping there is a particular head unit or system update or other way to junk my factory deck without losing any actual functionality (backup cam, steering wheel controls, bluetooth, etc).

Not entirely sure about your issue since it's very specific but if you copy the OP's setup in the crv forum you can make it work. That guy is ignoring what the easiest fix for him will be: just disconnect the battery around 8pm or 9pm and reconnect it around midnight and turn the car on. He could also reset the CMOS on the unit if he finds a flasher but that takes more knowledge than it's worth. Seems like you could get most of the functionality including the correct displayed time if you do so. Again, his avic unit is filling in some gaps for him by displaying certain pages for different audio sources but that will just about be it. That and the multiple backup camera view. Just thought I'd chip in if you do decide to follow in his footsteps.

Yeah I'll probably do that. Looks like there's a few options... RP4-HD11, Axxess, AVIC, ASWC... guess I'll have to just read it up and do some trial and error.

This isn't mine but it's the exact same.
